The IT Engineer position is a project execution role. The ideal candidate will execute infrastructure projects and support our clients through migrations, deployments, and upgrades. This position will manage and maintain IT systems, perform troubleshooting, provide technical support, and ensure network security. Additional responsibilities include overseeing day-to-day system operations, configuring and maintaining networks, and resolving technical issues to ensure optimal system performance.What you'll doExecute infrastructure migrations including VMware to Hyper-V conversionsPerform server installations, upgrades, and hardware refreshesHandle network deployments — switches, firewalls, VLANs, VPN configurationsPlan and execute Microsoft 365 migrations — on-premises Exchange to Exchange Online, Google Workspace to M365, and tenant-to-tenant migrationsConfigure and deploy firewalls, managed switches, and wireless access points at client sitesDesign and implement network infrastructure — VLANs, VPNs, SSIDs, and firewall policySupport Azure migrations and hybrid environment configurationsDocument all project work thoroughly in our PSA and project tracking toolsServe as a technical escalation point for the help desk teamParticipate in after-hours maintenance windows for project cutover workDeploy and configure Microsoft 365 — Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, IntuneQualifications3–5 years of hands-on IT experience, preferably in an MSP environmentHands-on M365 migration experience — on-prem to cloud, Google to M365, or tenant-to-tenantVMware to Hyper-V migration experience — you've executed this, not just studied itSolid Microsoft 365 and Windows Server administration skillsComfortable with Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group PolicyStrong networking skills — hands-on experience deploying and configuring firewalls, managed switches, and wireless access points in a business environmentFamiliar with common networking platforms — FortiGate, SonicWall, Cisco Meraki, Ubiquiti, or similarSolid understanding of VLANs, routing, VPN, and wireless network designExperience with backup and DR platforms — Datto or similar preferredRMM experience — Datto RMM, NinjaOne, or similarStrong client-facing communication — you'll interact directly with clients on project workBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related fieldIndustry certifications such as CompTIA Network+, CCNA, or equivalent are highly desirableCandidates with hands-on experience implementing compliance frameworks — CMMC, NIST, HIPAA, or FTC Safeguards — will be given strong preference.Why Skyward Technical SolutionsProject-focused work — less reactive ticket queue, more hands-on engineeringEstablished MSP with a 15-year track record serving Orange County businessesSmall team, direct access to ownership, no layers of bureaucracyCompetitive compensation based on experienceCompany matching 401k programHealthcare coverage: Medical, dental and visionStrong focus on work-life balance: Competitive PTO, and paid holidaysGrowth opportunity - working directly with ownership
