Role: Mid-Level Backend EngineerLocation: San Francisco Bay Area, CA (Onsite, 3 days/week)Compensation: $200,000+ compensation!At Harrison Clarke, we’re partnering with an ambitious and fast-growing technology company building advanced AI-driven automation tools for enterprise use. They’re looking to bring on a Backend Engineer who can play a key role in shaping the systems that power their platform.The OpportunityThis position is suited to an engineer who enjoys working close to the core of a product -designing services, solving complex backend challenges, and contributing to systems that need to scale quickly and reliably. You’ll be part of a small, highly collaborative team where ownership is expected and ideas are valued.Responsibilities:Backend Systems & APIsCreate and maintain backend services and APIs using Python-based frameworksBuild modular services that support automation workflows and large-scale data handlingImprove database performance through thoughtful schema design and query optimisationDevelop and support data movement across internal and external systemsIntegrations & Intelligent SystemsConnect backend infrastructure with AI components, data stores, and workflow enginesSupport integrations with widely used enterprise platforms such as CRM and HR systemsEnsure consistent and reliable data exchange across multiple servicesTeam CollaborationPartner with engineers and product stakeholders to deliver features from concept to releaseProactively suggest improvements and take responsibility for delivering solutionsOperate effectively in a fast-paced environment while keeping long-term scalability in mindYour BackgroundAround 3–5 years of experience building backend systems or APIsStrong proficiency in Python and familiarity with modern backend frameworksExperience working with relational databases and data modelling conceptsExposure to caching tools and asynchronous or event-based systemsFamiliarity with cloud environments and storage solutionsGood understanding of system security and API design principlesComfortable debugging, testing, and improving system performanceDesirable ExperienceExposure to AI or machine learning integrations in production systemsExperience with event-driven or workflow-based architecturesPrevious work within a startup or rapidly scaling organisationIf this sounds like something of interest, please feel free to reach out to me at reece@harrisonclarke.com or alternatively apply below with your resume!
