The setup is unusual in a good way. They operate as an independent startup, with full autonomy and a modern tech stack, but they're backed by an established company with real resources behind them. Co-founded by a well-known doctor and broadcaster, the mission is to shift healthcare from treatment to prevention. The product combines regular blood tests, longitudinal health data, behaviour-change principles, and AI personalisation to help people make better lifestyle decisions over time. It's already in market and scaling.About the RoleWhat you'll actually doOwn major backend features end-to-endWork closely with the lead engineer on architecture and technical directionMake real product and technical decisions (not just execute someone else's spec)Improve reliability, observability, and foundations as the product scales QualificationsYou'll likely be a great fit if you:Have 5+ years of backend experience and strong fundamentalsAre very strong in TypeScriptAre comfortable with ambiguity and making judgement callsUse AI tools confidently and responsibly (not "vibe coding")Have experience scaling a system to a high volume of users You don't need health expertise. You don't need their exact stack today. What you do need is to be autonomous, thoughtful, and capable of shipping high-quality work without hand-holding.
