As a small, specialized operator, P & R WATER TAXI LLC offers the opportunity to contribute directly to service quality and passenger experience while working on the waters around Honolulu.Role Description The Captain role is a full-time, on-site position located in Honolulu, HI, responsible for the safe and efficient operation of company vessels. Day-to-day tasks include navigating assigned routes, monitoring weather and sea conditions, conducting pre- and post-voyage inspections, and ensuring compliance with all maritime regulations and company safety procedures. The Captain oversees passenger boarding and disembarkation, provides clear safety briefings, and maintains a professional, courteous environment for all guests. The role involves coordinating with shore-side personnel, maintaining logs and records, supervising crew members when applicable, and promptly addressing any operational or safety issues that arise during service.Qualifications Strong maritime knowledge, including vessel handling, navigation, and understanding of local waters around Honolulu.Proven commitment to safety, including familiarity with U.S. Coast Guard regulations, emergency procedures, and safe passenger operations.Excellent customer service and communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with diverse passengers and team members.Ability to work on-site in varying weather and sea conditions, including physical capability to perform duties aboard a vessel.Valid U.S. Coast Guard Captain’s license appropriate to vessel size and operation, with a clean safety and compliance record.Current CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain it before starting.Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and reliability in following operational procedures and schedules.Previous experience in passenger vessel, water taxi, or similar marine operations is highly beneficial.
