Location: Northwest Washington, D.C.Grade Levels: 9–12Primary Assignment: 12th Grade PhysicsAdditional Assignment: Science Elective, Grades 9–12Position Type: Full-TimeSchool Year: 2026–2027About the RoleA dynamic, student-centered public charter school in Northwest Washington, D.C. is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Physics Teacher to join its instructional team for the 2026–2027 school year.The primary responsibility will be teaching 12th Grade Physics, with an additional opportunity to teach a science elective to students in Grades 9–12.The school emphasizes inquiry-based learning, strong academic routines, hands-on experiences, and culturally responsive instruction.

This is an excellent opportunity for an educator who is passionate about physics and enjoys helping students connect scientific concepts to real-world applications.Key ResponsibilitiesPlan and deliver engaging, rigorous, standards-aligned 12th Grade Physics instruction.Teach core physics concepts, including mechanics, forces and motion, energy, momentum, waves, electricity and magnetism, and other relevant areas of physics.Teach an additional science elective for students in Grades 9–12, based on school needs and the teacher's expertise.Design and facilitate hands-on investigations, laboratory experiences, demonstrations, and inquiry-based lessons.Connect physics concepts to real-world applications, technology, engineering, and current scientific developments.Integrate data analysis, mathematical reasoning, technology, and multimedia resources into instruction.Foster a safe, inclusive, and academically challenging classroom environment.Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including students with IEPs and multilingual learners.Use formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and inform instruction.Provide timely and constructive feedback aligned with course and science standards.Prepare students for success in college, careers, and further study in STEM-related fields.Collaborate with science department colleagues and other members of the instructional team.Maintain consistent and professional communication with families.Participate in professional development and contribute positively to the wider school community.QualificationsBachelor's degree in Physics, Science, Education, Engineering, or a related field required.Master's degree preferred.ExperienceMinimum of two years of classroom teaching experience in an urban school (charter school preferred).High school physics teaching experience strongly preferred.Experience teaching advanced science or STEM courses is a plus.Experience developing or teaching science electives for high school students is preferred.Experience with inquiry-based, project-based, or standards-aligned instruction.SkillsStrong content knowledge in physics and high school science.Ability to make complex scientific concepts accessible and engaging to students.Ability to design meaningful laboratory and inquiry-based learning experiences.Strong classroom management and organizational skills.Excellent communication and collaboration skills.Commitment to equity, inclusion, and culturally responsive teaching.BenefitsCompetitive salary based on experience and education.Health, dental, and vision insurance.401(k) with employer contribution.Paid time off and school holidays.Relocation assistance.Tuition reimbursement and professional development opportunities.Supportive, collaborative, mission-driven school environment.Interested?ConnectUS is currently accepting applications for this opportunity.If you are an experienced Physics teacher interested in teaching 12th Grade Physics and a high school science elective, please apply.Email: info@connectusagency.comWebsite: www.connectusagency.comInstagram: @connectusJob Type: Full-time
