Together, we are building a legacy of achievement, preparing our students to lead fulfilling lives and contribute to a more just society.Job DescriptionPOSITION OVERVIEWKIPP Indy Legacy High School is seeking a passionate and skilled High School Enrichment Teacher to provide high-quality instruction in Visual Arts, Physical Education, or Theater.Teachers at KIPP Indy Legacy High School are responsible for delivering rigorous, engaging, student-centered instruction that develops students’ content knowledge, skills, creativity, confidence, and independence. Enrichment teachers create meaningful opportunities for students to explore their interests, develop their talents, and apply their learning through authentic experiences.Teachers use student performance data and evidence of learning to inform instruction and adjust their practice to meet the needs of all learners. KIPP Indy Legacy teachers maintain high expectations, create safe, joyful, and structured learning environments, build strong relationships with students and families, and actively engage in coaching, feedback, collaboration, and professional development to continuously strengthen their instructional practice.ResponsibilitiesPlan and deliver engaging, rigorous, standards-aligned instruction in the assigned enrichment content area. Develop lessons and learning experiences that build students’ content knowledge and technical skills while promoting creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, confidence, and student ownership. Provide students with authentic opportunities to demonstrate and apply their learning through performances, exhibitions, showcases, productions, competitions, presentations, physical activities, or other content-specific experiences. Establish clear learning objectives and use student work, performance tasks, assessments, observation, and other evidence of learning to monitor progress and adjust instruction. Differentiate instruction and provide appropriate supports and extensions to ensure students with varying learning needs can successfully engage in rigorous coursework. Maintain high expectations for student participation, effort, skill development, behavior, and quality of work. Create and maintain a safe, joyful, structured, and engaging learning environment appropriate to the assigned content area. Implement effective classroom management practices and consistently reinforce school-wide expectations while supporting students in developing independence, responsibility, and self-advocacy. Provide timely, specific, and actionable feedback that supports students in strengthening their skills and improving the quality of their work or performance. Build strong relationships with students and families and communicate proactively regarding student progress, successes, opportunities, and areas for growth. Collaborate with colleagues, instructional leaders, and other enrichment teachers to strengthen instruction, support students, and contribute to a cohesive high school experience. Maintain instructional materials, equipment, supplies, facilities, and learning spaces appropriate to the assigned content area, including adherence to applicable safety procedures. Support school-wide events and content-specific programming, including performances, exhibitions, productions, showcases, competitions, or other student experiences, as applicable. Participate actively in ongoing coaching, classroom observations, feedback cycles, collaborative planning, team learning, and required professional development; consistently implement feedback and agreed-upon action steps to strengthen instructional practice and student outcomes. EXPECTATIONSArrive at school by 8:10 a.m. Attend professional development, including summer onboarding. Track and analyze student data regularly and attend team meetings. Fulfill all expectations outlined in the KIPP Employee Handbook. COMPETENCIESSkill in differentiating instruction to meet diverse student needs. QualificationsValid Indiana teaching license appropriate to the assigned grade level and/or content area, or in the process of obtaining appropriate Indiana licensure through reciprocity or another approved pathway (required). Bachelor’s degree in education, Visual Arts, Physical Education/Kinesiology, Theater, Performing Arts, or another field related to the assigned content area (required). Strong content knowledge and demonstrated skill in the assigned enrichment area (required). Minimum of two years of teaching or relevant instructional experience, preferably at the high school level (preferred). Experience designing and delivering engaging instruction that develops students’ knowledge, skills, and ability to apply learning (preferred). Experience supporting student performances, exhibitions, productions, showcases, competitions, or other authentic learning experiences relevant to the content area (preferred).
