9-12 SPED Consultant

In this position, you will be expected to have strong knowledge of special education programs, state and federal compliance requirements, and how to develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities. Typical qualifications include a valid Florida teaching certificate, several years of successful ESE teaching experience, demonstrated leadership and organizational skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, teachers, and administrators. Preferred candidates often possess a master's degree in Exceptional Student Education, experience coordinating services and evaluations, knowledge of IDEA regulations, and the ability to support schools in meeting the academic, behavioral, and instructional needs of exceptional students while ensuring compliance with district, state, and federal mandates. ResponsibilitiesCoordinate and monitor Individual Education Plans (IEPs), including scheduling, compliance, documentation, and participation in IEP meetings. Support administrators and teachers in implementing federal, state, and district requirements for students receiving Exceptional Student Education (ESE) services.Assist with student evaluations, re-evaluations, behavior plans, Functional Assessments of Behavior (FABs), and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs). Collaborate with parents, teachers, and district personnel to ensure appropriate instructional, behavioral, and support services for ESE students. QualificationsValid Florida ESE certification and extensive knowledge of Exceptional Student Education programs, procedures, and compliance requirements.Minimum of three years of successful ESE classroom teaching experience. Demonstrated leadership, planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Strong oral and written communication skills; a degree in Exceptional Student Education is preferred.
