Accountant - Commodities Trading

Title: Accountant - Commodoties Trading Location: London – Hybrid (1 day working from home)Salary: £65,000 – £75,000 + Bonus & BenefitsOur client is a global commodities trading group seeking to appoint an experienced Accountant to join its London-based finance function.The role will take responsibility for financial reporting, management accounts, month-end processes and balance sheet reconciliations, working closely with senior finance leadership and international stakeholders across the group.Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare monthly management accounts, financial reports and supporting analysis.Manage month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, journals, accruals and prepayments.Support the preparation of statutory accounts and liaise with external auditors.Manage intercompany accounting and reconciliations across multiple international entities.Monitor cash flow, working capital and financial performance across the business.Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, internal controls and group reporting requirements.Support budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis alongside the wider finance team.Assist with accounting activities relating to commodity trading transactions, including revenue recognition, costs and settlements.Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting efficiency and financial controls.Partner with trading, operations and finance teams to resolve accounting queries and ensure accurate financial information.Support the Finance Director and wider leadership team with ad hoc financial analysis and projects.Candidate RequirementsACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified accountant – essential.Strong experience in financial accounting, management reporting and month-end processes.Previous experience in an Accountant, Financial Accountant, Management Accountant or similar role.Experience within commodities trading, energy, metals, agriculture or a related trading environment would be highly desirable.Strong technical accounting knowledge, including IFRS and financial reporting standards.Experience working within a multinational or multi-entity organisation would be advantageous.Good understanding of balance sheet reconciliations, intercompany accounting and financial controls.Advanced Excel skills and experience using accounting or ERP systems.Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills and organisational ability.Proactive, adaptable and comfortable working within a fast-paced global trading environment.
