Accountant – Internal Audit & Contracting Experience

Location: Dubai, UAEEmployment Type: Full-TimeIndustry: Contracting / ConstructionLanguage Requirement: Arabic & EnglishJob SummaryWe are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Accountant with a strong background in accounting, internal audit, and contracting/construction companies.The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in managing accounting activities, reviewing financial transactions, project costing, subcontractor and supplier accounts, and performing internal audit procedures to ensure accuracy, compliance, and effective internal controls.Candidates with previous experience in contracting or construction companies will be strongly preferred.Key ResponsibilitiesHandle day-to-day accounting activities, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and journal entries.Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation.Review and audit financial transactions, payments, invoices, expenses, and accounting entries.Monitor and review project costs, job costing, budgets, and project-related expenses.Review subcontractor accounts, supplier accounts, payment certificates, purchase orders, and related documentation.Perform bank, supplier, customer, and other account reconciliations.Conduct periodic internal audits of financial and operational transactions.Evaluate internal controls and identify weaknesses, discrepancies, errors, or potential financial risks.Verify that payments and expenses are properly authorized and supported by appropriate documentation.Review procurement and payment processes to ensure compliance with company policies.Prepare internal audit observations and reports for management.Follow up on audit findings and ensure corrective actions are implemented.Assist in monthly and year-end closing activities.Support VAT, Corporate Tax, and other UAE compliance requirements when required.Coordinate with external auditors and provide necessary financial records and supporting documents.Ensure compliance with company accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.RequirementsBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.Proven professional experience as an Accountant.Previous experience in Internal Audit is required.Previous experience in a Contracting or Construction Company is highly preferred.Strong knowledge of project costing, subcontractor accounts, supplier accounts, and contracting-related transactions.Good understanding of accounting principles, internal controls, and audit procedures.Knowledge of UAE VAT and Corporate Tax will be an advantage.Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP software.Strong analytical, reconciliation, and problem-solving skills.Ability to identify financial discrepancies and control weaknesses.Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.Arabic-speaking candidates are preferred.Good communication skills in English.Preferred CandidateWe are particularly interested in candidates who have worked in the UAE contracting/construction sector and have practical exposure to both accounting and internal audit functions.Candidates meeting the above requirements are encouraged to apply with their updated CV.
