Accounting Assistant

Company: Book Corner LLCLocation: UAEJob Type: Full-TimeSector: Retail – Books, Toys, Games, Gifts & StationeryAbout the PositionBook Corner LLC is currently seeking an Accountant Assistant to join our finance and accounts team.The successful candidate will support routine accounting activities across our retail operations, helping maintain accurate financial records, process transactions, complete reconciliations, and prepare accounting reports.We are looking for someone with previous UAE accounting experience who understands local VAT and Corporate Tax requirements and is comfortable working with accounting systems and Microsoft Excel.Main DutiesProcess and verify daily accounting transactions, including sales, purchases, expenses, receipts, and payments.Maintain Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable records and follow up on outstanding balances when required.Post accounting entries and assist with General Ledger maintenance.Carry out regular bank, credit card, cash, and petty cash reconciliations.Verify supplier invoices and maintain accurate supplier account records.Assist with month-end and year-end accounting procedures.Support the preparation of management and financial reports.Maintain records required for UAE VAT reporting and assist with VAT return preparation.Support documentation and record-keeping related to UAE Corporate Tax requirements.Review inventory-related accounting entries, purchase transactions, stock adjustments, and costing records.Assist with payroll-related accounting, employee settlements, leave salary, and end-of-service calculations.Organize invoices, vouchers, statements, and other financial supporting documents.Work with auditors, banks, suppliers, tax consultants, and internal departments when necessary.Provide accounting and reporting support to management as required.Candidate ProfileBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline.Around 2–3 years of relevant accounting experience in the UAE.Retail accounting experience will be considered an advantage.Working knowledge of UAE VAT and Corporate Tax.Practical experience with Tally ERP, Zoho Books, QuickBooks, or comparable accounting software.Good Microsoft Excel skills, particularly formulas, lookups, Pivot Tables, and financial reporting.Understanding of AP, AR, General Ledger, bank reconciliation, and basic financial reporting.Good numerical and analytical abilities.Strong attention to accuracy and documentation.Ability to prioritize daily tasks and complete work within deadlines.Good communication skills in English.Must have valid authorization to work in the UAE.What We OfferCompetitive salary package based on experience and qualifications.Performance-related incentives, where applicable.Opportunity to develop accounting experience within a UAE retail business.Career development opportunities within the organization.ApplicationCandidates who meet the above requirements are encouraged to apply through LinkedIn Jobs with an updated CV.Applications will be reviewed based on relevant qualifications, UAE experience, accounting knowledge, and overall suitability for the position.Book Corner LLC
