Our work ranges from supporting the accounting and administration of client entities and investment structures to advising corporations on financing, due diligence and cross-border transactions.On the corporate finance side, we assist clients with structuring and arranging financing through banks, investment funds, private equity firms, family offices and other financial institutions, ranging from short-term trade finance to longer-term corporate and project financing.Within our trust and corporate services activities, we support the financial administration, reporting and ongoing accounting requirements of Dutch and international client entities and transaction structures.We are looking for an Accounting Intern who wants to develop a strong practical foundation in accounting while gaining exposure to both trust accounting and corporate finance in an international environment.The RoleAs an Accounting Intern, you will work closely with our accounting, legal and corporate finance teams in Amsterdam.A significant part of your role will involve supporting the accounting and financial administration of client companies and structures. You will assist with bookkeeping, reconciliations, financial reporting and the preparation of supporting documentation for reporting, audits and other statutory or professional requirements.You will also have the opportunity to work alongside our corporate finance team, where accounting information is used to analyse companies, prepare financing cases and support transactions.This is a hands-on internship for someone who wants to understand both how companies and investment structures are accounted for and administered and how their financial information is used by management, shareholders, banks, investors and other professional counterparties.Your ResponsibilitiesDepending on the assignments you are involved in, you will assist with:Preparing and recording journal entries and maintaining accurate general ledger records;Maintaining the accounting administration of Dutch and international client entities and structures;Processing invoices, bank transactions, expenses and other financial transactions in accounting systems;Performing bank, balance-sheet, intercompany and other account reconciliations;Monitoring accounts receivable, accounts payable and outstanding balances where applicable;Supporting periodic closing processes and the preparation of trial balances;Assisting with the preparation of management accounts, financial statements and supporting schedules;Reviewing accounting records and financial data for completeness, consistency and accuracy;Maintaining organised financial records and supporting documentation for client entities;Supporting the accounting and administration of holding companies, investment structures, special-purpose entities and other corporate structures;Preparing financial information and supporting schedules for auditors, tax advisers and other professional service providers;Assisting with audit requests and the preparation and organisation of audit documentation;Supporting information gathering in connection with tax reporting and statutory financial reporting;Working with the legal and trust teams to ensure that financial records correspond with relevant corporate documentation and transactions;Gathering and analysing financial information for corporate finance assignments;Assisting with historical financial analysis, budgets, forecasts, cash flows and financial ratios;Supporting the preparation of financial information for credit applications, financing presentations and lender or investor reporting;Preparing and organising supporting documentation for financing, due diligence and transaction processes;Responding to information requests from clients, banks, auditors and other professional counterparties together with senior team members; andContributing to improvements in accounting, reporting and administrative processes.As your experience develops, you may gain further exposure to areas such as Dutch GAAP and IFRS reporting, financial modelling, cash-flow analysis, corporate structures, transaction accounting, financing structures, due diligence and international financing processes.Your ProfileWe are looking for someone who is analytical, accurate and interested in developing a career in accounting, financial services or corporate finance.You should:Be currently pursuing, or have recently completed, a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Financial Management or a related discipline;Have a good understanding of core accounting principles, including debits and credits, journal entries, balance sheets, income statements and cash flow statements;Have an interest in accounting for companies, holding structures and international business activities;Be comfortable working with numbers and reviewing detailed financial information;Have strong Excel or equivalent spreadsheet skills and confidence using digital tools;Be able and willing to learn different accounting and financial administration systems;Have strong analytical and problem-solving skills;Work accurately and have strong attention to detail;Be organised and capable of managing multiple assignments and deadlines;Communicate professionally in written and spoken Dutch and English;Be comfortable working in an international and multicultural professional environment; andBe available to work full-time and on-site in Amsterdam.Professional proficiency in both Dutch and English is required.
