The management team is approachable, down-to-earth and supportive of people who want to develop and progress.The RoleYou will take responsibility for a portfolio of UK and European wholesale customer accounts, managing the sales ledger, collections and credit control while working closely with Sales, Customer Service and Operations.Your responsibilities will include:Managing the sales ledger and maintaining accurate customer accountsAllocating incoming customer paymentsMonitoring outstanding balances and chasing overdue invoices and debit notesPerforming customer account reconciliations and resolving discrepanciesProducing customer statements and aged debtor reportsRaising manual non-stock invoices and credit notesAssessing new customer credit applications and supporting credit-limit decisionsMonitoring customer credit exposureResolving invoice disputes, pricing queries, shortages, returns, deductions and debit notesBuilding strong relationships with wholesale customers while ensuring timely collectionsSupporting UK and European customer accountsHandling GBP/EUR and other multi-currency transactions where applicableSupporting UK VAT and European trading requirementsMonitoring Debtor Days / DSO and collection performanceSupporting month-end Accounts Receivable activitiesProviding expected collections information for cash-flow forecastingWhat We Are Looking ForIdeally, you will have:Previous experience in Accounts Receivable and/or Credit ControlAAT qualification or studying towards ACCA/CIMAExperience within fashion, footwear, apparel, wholesale distribution or FMCGExperience dealing with major retail customers and independent wholesale accountsStrong knowledge of sales ledger and credit controlExperience with aged debt, collections, debit notes, credit notes and customer reconciliationsKnowledge of UK VAT and European trading proceduresStrong Excel skillsExperience using an ERP/accounting system such as Sage 200, Microsoft Dynamics, SAP, NetSuite or XeroStrong communication and negotiation skillsExcellent attention to detail and a commercially minded, customer-focused approachExperience with multi-currency transactions would be advantageous.German or French language skills would also be highly desirable, though not necessary.Why Join?This is a business where people tend to build long-term careers.There are people within the finance function who have remained with the company for many years, while continued business growth is creating further opportunities for career development and progression.The environment is busy and fast-moving, but also friendly, collaborative and enjoyable.
