Role Description The Director is a full-time, on-site leadership role based in Kampala, responsible for overseeing regional operations, business development, and project delivery for international petroleum engineering and oilfield services. This position leads multidisciplinary teams, sets strategic priorities, and ensures that projects meet safety, quality, budget, and schedule expectations in alignment with corporate standards. The Director collaborates closely with clients, partners, and internal stakeholders to identify new opportunities, negotiate contracts, and maintain strong relationships throughout the project lifecycle. Day-to-day responsibilities include reviewing operational performance, resolving complex technical and organizational issues, guiding resource allocation, and ensuring compliance with local regulations and company policies. The role also involves mentoring managers, fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement, and representing the company in key industry and governmental forums.QualificationsStrong leadership and management capabilities, including experience overseeing multidisciplinary teams and large-scale projects.Extensive background in petroleum engineering, oilfield services, or energy sector operations, preferably across exploration, drilling, completion, and production phases.Proven track record in strategic planning, business development, and contract negotiation within international or regional markets.Solid understanding of HSE standards, risk management, and regulatory compliance in the oil and gas industry.Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and relationship-building skills with clients, partners, and authorities.Ability to work on-site in Kampala and collaborate effectively with cross-cultural teams.Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Geoscience, Business Administration, or a related field; advanced degrees or professional certifications are an advantage.Prior experience in senior leadership roles within large energy or engineering organizations is strongly preferred.Fluency in English; additional language skills, especially Mandarin, are beneficial.
