Adult Primary Care Medical Director and Assistant Chief Medical OfficerCaring Health Center in Springfield, Massachusetts, is seeking an Adult Primary Care Medical Director and Assistant Chief Medical Officer. This is one integrated physician leadership position reporting directly to the Chief Medical Officer.This is an opportunity to become a physician leader or continue growing as one while making a significant impact in a mission-driven community health organization. You will work directly with and be mentored by the Chief Medical Officer, who has a long record of developing physicians into senior leaders.We welcome physicians who are board certified in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Geriatric Medicine, or an appropriate ambulatory Internal Medicine subspecialty such as Endocrinology, Rheumatology, or Infectious Disease.The OpportunityYou will provide physician leadership and clinical oversight for adult primary care and partner with the CMO on broader organizational priorities. The position includes protected administrative time to support your leadership responsibilities, professional development, and organizational work.You will:Play a key leadership role in quality, patient safety, population health, and value-based care for a large accountable care organization population.Mentor, coach, and develop physicians and advanced practice providers.Partner with clinical, nursing, operational, and administrative leaders to improve access, clinical performance, care delivery, and patient experience.Help recruit, onboard, develop, and support the performance of physicians and advanced practice providers.Help shape clinical strategy, programs, staffing models, and organizational growth.Play a central leadership role as Caring Health Center plans to develop future residency training programs and academic partnerships.Continue meaningful outpatient clinical practice appropriate to your training and scope of practice.Take on increasing responsibility in clinical operations, finance, physician management, and organizational leadership.The role provides hands-on leadership development while allowing you to remain connected to clinical practice. The scope of your leadership responsibilities will expand over time based on experience, interests, and organizational needs.QualificationsMD or DO degree.Completion of an accredited residency in Internal Medicine, Internal Medicine-Pediatrics, or Family Medicine.Board certification in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Geriatric Medicine, or an appropriate ambulatory Internal Medicine subspecialty such as Endocrinology, Rheumatology, or Infectious Disease.Unrestricted Massachusetts medical license or ability to obtain one before starting.DEA and Massachusetts Controlled Substances registrations or ability to obtain them.Experience providing high-quality, patient-centered care to diverse patient populations, or a strong commitment to doing so.Experience or strong interest in clinical leadership, quality improvement, clinician development, and team-based primary care.Leadership ExperienceFormal leadership experience is welcomed but not required. We are also interested in excellent physicians who have demonstrated leadership potential and are ready to take the next step in their careers.Experience in an FQHC, community health center, population health, accountable care organization, value-based care, quality improvement, or integrated care is desirable.Candidates should bring strong clinical judgment, professionalism, collaborative skills, and a desire to develop in physician leadership, clinical operations, finance, quality, and organizational management.This is an outpatient position with no inpatient clinical responsibilities.
