Advanced CNC Machinist – Multi-AxisGreater Roanoke, VA | Direct Hire | Full-TimeAre you an experienced CNC machinist who can do more than load parts and run an existing program?We are recruiting for an Advanced CNC Machinist to join a well-established manufacturing operation in the Greater Roanoke, VA area. This opportunity is designed for a true machining professional with experience in multi-axis CNC equipment, programming, complex setups, troubleshooting, and precision manufacturing.You’ll have the opportunity to take ownership of the machining process—from interpreting the print and determining tooling and setup requirements to programming, producing, troubleshooting, and inspecting the finished component.What You’ll Be DoingSet up, program, operate, and troubleshoot multi-axis CNC machinesCreate, edit, and optimize CNC programsPerform complex setups, changeovers, offsets, and tooling adjustmentsDetermine appropriate tooling, workholding, speeds, feeds, and machining strategiesRead and interpret complex blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&TMachine precision components to required dimensions and tolerancesPerform first-piece and in-process inspections using precision measurement equipmentDiagnose and correct programming, tooling, setup, dimensional, and surface-finish issuesOptimize machining processes to improve cycle time, tool life, quality, and productivityTroubleshoot out-of-tolerance conditions and make necessary program or machine adjustmentsSupport continuous improvement and machining process-development initiativesProvide technical guidance to less-experienced machinists and operators when neededWhat We’re Looking For3+ years of CNC machining experience in a manufacturing environmentStrong experience with multi-axis CNC machiningCNC programming and program-editing experienceAbility to independently complete setups from blueprint through first-piece approvalStrong understanding of cutting tools, workholding, offsets, speeds, feeds, and machining fundamentalsAbility to read complex blueprints and understand GD&T and tight tolerancesExperience using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other precision inspection equipmentStrong mechanical aptitude and machining troubleshooting skillsExperience with CNC mills, lathes, or other advanced machining equipmentTechnical machining education, apprenticeship training, or industry certifications are a plusWho We WantWe’re looking for someone who understands the complete machining process.You should be comfortable looking at a print, understanding how the part needs to be produced, determining the appropriate setup and tooling, programming or modifying the machine, troubleshooting issues, and verifying that the finished component meets specification.If you're currently in an operator-level position but already handling programming, complex setups, multi-axis equipment, and troubleshooting, this could also be an opportunity to take the next step in your machining career.This is a direct-hire opportunity with an established manufacturer offering long-term stability and the opportunity to further develop your advanced machining expertise.Interested in learning more?
