Harlem Children's Zone (HCZ) — a world-renowned education and poverty-fighting organization based in New York — seeks an enthusiastic, dedicated, and mission-aligned Advocacy Coordinator to support our After-School programs.The Advocacy Coordinator will bring a passion for the mission of Harlem Children's Zone: breaking the cycle of intergenerational poverty with comprehensive, on-the-ground programming that builds up opportunities for children and families to thrive in school, work, and life.We are currently seeking an Advocacy Coordinator to provide complete oversight of the program's academic enrichment and support components. Here's 7 Things You Need to Know.RequirementsBachelor's degree2 years of experience working in an educational, case management, social work, or community service setting 1 year of supervisory/management experienceWho You AreA commitment to the mission and programs of HCZStrong organizational, planning, leadership, writing and communication skillsProficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)Ability to lead and motivate a high-performing, mission-driven staffEnergetic, motivated self-starter and a team playerAbility to motivate and encourage self-esteem in youthWhat you'll doWork one-on-one with students to understand the diversity of needs for academic resourcesOversee work with school partners and parents while collaborating with other site staffSupervises Student Advocates and tutors to assess students' needs, and develop and implement plans to meet those needsMaintain statistical data for all education-related activities, such as student participation and tutor hours dedicated to education activitiesReview the educational history of students to evaluate academic performance and learning characteristicsCoordinate, develop, monitor, and evaluate the effectiveness of the IEP for studentsPrepare reports and updates as required and continuously evaluate program impactReview and use of data to make informed decisions around the education component program improvementsDevelop long-term and short-term plans/programs to meet instructional objectivesAttend and contribute to case management meetingsPerform other duties as assignedScheduleOn-Site (Monday-Friday)Peacemaker Program: 10 AM - 6 PMPromise Academy, After School: 11 AM - 7 PMZone High School After-School: Mon-Thurs, 12 PM - 8 PM, Friday, 10 AM - 6 PMA Cut Above: 11 AM- 7 PMSummer Hours (all sites): Monday - Friday, 8 AM - 4:30 PMBenefitsAs a member of the Harlem Children's Zone team, you will join a supportive and inclusive community dedicated to helping children, families — and our staff — thrive.
