Achieving our goals will require more than making existing processes faster. We want to understand how work actually gets done today, challenge what work should exist at all, simplify and redesign what remains, and determine where AI and automation can fundamentally change the operating model. This is not a traditional finance internship. The role will work directly with the CFO organization and its leadership to identify real problems, redesign workflows, prototype solutions, and partner with internal and external resources to turn the best ideas into working tools. We are less concerned about prior finance experience or a specific field of study than how someone thinks. The ideal candidate is intellectually curious, analytical, highly comfortable with AI, and excited about taking complicated problems apart and building a better way to solve them. Job Responsibilities:1. Understand How Work Gets Done How does the process actually work today? Work with members of the Finance organization to understand recurring processes and workflows. Interview and shadow employees to learn how work gets done in practice. Document key steps, systems, data, handoffs, and manual activities. Identify repetitive work, bottlenecks, duplicate effort, and unnecessary complexity. Help quantify the time and effort required to complete different activities 2. Identify Opportunities to Work Differently What could we eliminate, simplify, or do differently? Ask questions about why existing steps and processes exist. Help identify work that could be eliminated or simplified before introducing new technology. Look for activities that may be good candidates for automation or AI. Research how other companies and emerging technologies are approaching similar problem. Work with Finance leadership to prioritize opportunities worth exploring further 3. Explore and Prototype Solutions Can AI or automation create a better way? Explore potential solutions using AI, automation, and emerging agentic technologies. Build lightweight prototypes and proofs of concept based on experience and technical ability. Experiment with AI tools, automation platforms, or other technologies where appropriate. Help translate what we learn about a workflow into requirements for external partners. Work alongside those partners as solutions are developed. 4. Test and Learn Does it actually work? Help test prototypes and solutions against real-world scenarios. Look for edge cases, unreliable outputs, and situations where human judgment is still required. Gather feedback from the people who perform or use the workflow. Help measure whether changes reduce manual work, save time, or improve the process. Document what worked, what did not, and what we should try next. QualificationsCurrently pursuing an undergraduate degree. Strong intellectual curiosity and analytical problem-solving skills. Comfortable experimenting with AI tools and interested in how emerging technologies can change the way people work. Naturally curious about how and why things work the way they do. Comfortable asking questions, including when something does not make sense. Able to work through ambiguous problems without needing every step defined in advance. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Self-motivated, organized, and comfortable working independently with guidance. Ability to commit approximately 15–20 hours per week during Fall 2026. Experience with Python, APIs, LLMs, AI agents, automation platforms, data analysis, or software development is helpful, but not required. Prior finance or accounting experience is not required.
