AI Application Engineer

Confidentiality, traceability, and professional judgement are central to these applications.Your RoleAs a Forward Deployed Engineer, you work where customer needs meet engineering and product development. You spend time with customers, understand how their work actually gets done, and build solutions that can be tested in practice.You might work with a notarial team to understand how they prepare a deed, identify where information gathering slows them down, and build a prototype that helps them find and use relevant information. You then observe how people use it, measure the results, and work with the engineering team to develop it further.You own the process from discovery through implementation and adoption. That means asking good questions, assessing the business case, building and testing a solution, and helping users incorporate it into their daily work.You also help determine which customer needs should become shared product capabilities. Your decisions draw on evidence: user behaviour, measurable value, technical feasibility, and the potential to serve other customers.What You’ll Be DoingLead customer discovery sessions and workshops in Dutch to understand workflows, constraints, and opportunities.Work with domain specialists to identify valuable applications for AI.Translate complex customer problems into clear use cases, success criteria, and practical implementation plans.Build working prototypes, integrations, and proofs of concept using code, APIs, and existing platform capabilities.Test solutions with real users and evaluate accuracy, usability, adoption, and business impact.Work with AI, platform, and product engineers to turn successful pilots into reliable production capabilities.Help customers understand AI outputs, review results, and retain appropriate human oversight.Guide users through changes to their workflows and provide practical training.Identify patterns across customer implementations and propose reusable features.Bring evidence from the field into product and engineering decisions.What You BringYou combine technical ability with curiosity about how businesses and people work. You enjoy taking an unclear problem, making sense of it, and building something useful.Fluent spoken Dutch. You can independently lead customer conversations, workshops, and training in Dutch. This is a knockout criterion.A Master’s degree in Engineering, Econometrics, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or an equivalent quantitative field.The ability to build and debug working solutions, connect systems, and collaborate effectively with engineers.Strong analytical skills and the ability to assess whether a solution creates measurable value.Clear communication with both technical colleagues and users with limited technical knowledge.An interest in learning unfamiliar domains, including their terminology, responsibilities, and operational constraints.Ownership throughout discovery, delivery, validation, and adoption.Sound judgement when working with sensitive information and AI-generated outputs.Python experience is useful.
