AI Business Analyst Intern — Prompt Engineering

Role OverviewWe are seeking an AI Business Analyst Intern to help identify, design, and evaluate AI-enabled improvements to business workflows. You will work with stakeholders to map processes, gather requirements, develop effective prompts, and prototype practical solutions using generative AI and automation tools.This role is suited to someone who combines business thinking with hands-on curiosity about large language models, prompt engineering, and AI-assisted workflows.Key ResponsibilitiesInterview stakeholders and document business needs, pain points, and success criteria.Create “as-is” and “to-be” workflow maps, process diagrams, and user journeys.Identify opportunities where generative AI can reduce manual effort, improve quality, or accelerate decision-making.Translate business needs into requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and AI use-case specifications.Design, test, and refine prompts for tasks such as research, summarization, classification, data extraction, content generation, and analysis.Build reusable prompt templates with clear instructions, context, examples, constraints, and output formats.Create lightweight AI prototypes using LLM platforms, no-code tools, and workflow-automation software.Develop test cases and evaluation criteria to measure accuracy, consistency, relevance, and business value.Analyze model outputs, identify failure patterns, and recommend prompt or workflow improvements.Document prompt versions, test results, assumptions, risks, and implementation recommendations.Validate AI-generated content through source checking and human review.Consider privacy, security, bias, hallucination, and responsible-AI requirements throughout solution design.Present findings and demonstrations to technical and non-technical stakeholders.Required Skills and QualificationsCurrently pursuing or recently completed a degree in business, information systems, computer science, engineering, data analytics, economics, or a related field.Strong analytical, problem-solving, and requirements-gathering skills.Hands-on familiarity with generative AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or Microsoft Copilot.Understanding of prompt-engineering techniques, including:Role and context settingFew-shot promptingStructured output generationPrompt decompositionIterative prompt testingGrounding prompts with reference materialAbility to evaluate AI output critically rather than accepting it at face value.Familiarity with workflow mapping, flowcharts, or process documentation.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Good working knowledge of spreadsheets and presentation tools.Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to business stakeholders.Preferred SkillsExperience with Claude Code, VS Code, Codex, Gemini,Exposure to automation tools such as Power Automate, Make, or n8n.Basic knowledge of SQL, Python, APIs, JSON, or data visualization.Familiarity with retrieval-augmented generation, AI agents, or knowledge-based assistants.Experience developing prompt libraries, evaluation scorecards, or AI prototypes.Awareness of responsible-AI principles, data privacy, security, and governance.Familiarity with Agile delivery, user stories, BPMN, Lean, or process-improvement methods.
