AI Engineer

About The RoleWe're looking for a hands-on AI Engineer / Member of Technical Staff to build and own production AI systems in healthcare.You'll work across AI engineering, software development, infrastructure, and customer implementation, taking ambiguous problems from initial requirements through deployment and ongoing improvement.This is a highly hands-on role for someone who enjoys building production systems, working directly with customers, and solving complex problems in a fast-moving environment.What You'll DoBuild production AI applications using Python, LLMs, RAG, and agentic workflowsDevelop systems that process and extract insights from complex, unstructured dataDesign and manage production infrastructure using Terraform or comparable IaCDeploy, monitor, debug, and continuously improve AI systemsWork directly with customers to understand workflows and translate problems into technical solutionsChallenge assumptions and identify new opportunities where AI can improve customer workflowsCollaborate across engineering, product, and customer-facing teamsWhat We're Looking ForStrong hands-on Python development experienceExperience with Terraform or comparable Infrastructure-as-CodeExperience building and deploying production softwarePractical experience with LLMs / generative AIExperience with RAG, agents, or other LLM application architecturesStrong debugging and problem-solving skillsComfortable working directly with customers and navigating ambiguityStrong Git/GitHub experience and a track record of actively buildingAbility to work 5 days/week in San FranciscoNice to HaveHealthcare, EHR, FHIR, or HL7 experienceCustomer-facing engineering, FDE, or solutions engineering experienceAI evaluation, monitoring, or observability experienceStartup or founding-engineer experienceOpen-source contributionsEngineering MindsetWe believe production AI requires more than getting a demo to work.
