AI Engineer
Location: Remote (Northern Ireland)Type: PermanentEnso Recruitment is working with an ambitious and growing Northern Ireland technology company to recruit an AI Engineer.This is an opportunity to join a highly skilled team developing innovative AI solutions for clients across a range of sectors, alongside contributing to the development of new AI-powered products.We’re looking for someone with a strong foundation in Python and Data Science who enjoys translating complex data into real, working AI solutions.You’ll have the opportunity to work across machine learning, Generative AI and software engineering, taking ideas from initial exploration through to real-world applications.Whether your background is in data science and you’re keen to sharpen your engineering skills, or you’ve come from a software engineering background and moved into AI, there’s room to grow in either direction.The RoleWorking within a small, experienced team, you’ll have considerable autonomy and the opportunity to contribute directly to client projects and new product development.Your responsibilities will include:Exploring, cleaning and analysing complex datasets to identify opportunities and develop solutionsDeveloping and assessing machine learning models from initial design through to evaluationBuilding Generative AI solutions using Large Language Models (LLMs), prompt engineering and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)Writing clean, reusable Python code and contributing to the software engineering required to deliver AI solutionsWorking with APIs, databases and cloud technologies to support AI application developmentCollaborating directly with clients to understand challenges, communicate findings and deliver meaningful outcomesContributing to the development of new AI products and emerging technologiesWhat We’re Looking ForStrong Python programming skills, particularly within the PyData ecosystem (Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn or similar)Practical experience in Data Science and Machine Learning, including data preparation, model development and evaluationHands-on experience developing Generative AI solutions, including LLMs, prompt engineering and RAGGood SQL skills and an understanding of working with different data sourcesSound software engineering fundamentals, including Git, modular code and testingExperience developing APIs using FastAPI or similar frameworksFamiliarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or GCP, alongside DockerAn interest in modern AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code or GitHub CopilotExperience deploying machine learning models or data pipelines into production would be advantageous, although not essential.Beyond the technical skills, we’re looking for someone genuinely curious, self-motivated, and energised by complex challenges.
