AI Engineer / Forward Deployed EngineerThe RoleWe are looking for an exceptional AI Engineer / Forward Deployed Engineer to work at the intersection of AI engineering, product development, and government transformation. This is not a traditional software engineering role. You will work directly with government entities to understand how critical services and operations work today, identify where AI can fundamentally change them, and then design, build, and deploy the agentic systems that power the new workflow. The role is approximately equal parts AI Engineer and Forward Deployed / Product Engineer. You need to be comfortable building AI agents and production systems while also sitting with domain experts, understanding complex processes, challenging assumptions, and translating real-world problems into working AI products. The goal isn't simply to automate existing workflows. It is to rewire them for an AI-first world. What You'll DoBuild Agentic AI SystemsDesign, build, and deploy AI agents and multi-agent systems that solve complex, real-world problems.Engineer agentic workflows combining LLMs, tools, APIs, enterprise data and existing systems.Build systems incorporating RAG, tool/function calling, structured outputs, memory, reasoning and orchestration.Develop evaluation frameworks, guardrails and observability to ensure AI systems are reliable and production-ready.Move rapidly from prototype to production, continuously improving systems based on real-world usage.Rewire Government WorkflowsEmbed directly with government entities and domain experts to understand how services and operational processes work today.Map existing workflows, decision points, bottlenecks, hand-offs and dependencies.Identify where AI enables an entirely different way of operating—not simply incremental automation.Re-engineer workflows around AI agents, human judgment and automation.Turn manual, fragmented processes into intelligent, adaptive and increasingly autonomous systems.Understand the underlying domain deeply enough to challenge existing assumptions and redesign how work gets done.Operate as a Product EngineerTranslate ambiguous stakeholder problems into clear product and technical requirements.Work directly with users rather than relying solely on predefined specifications.Prototype quickly, put products in front of users and iterate based on feedback.Make pragmatic product decisions balancing user experience, technical feasibility, security and impact.Own solutions end-to-end—from discovering the problem through to deployment, adoption and measurable outcomes. What We're Looking ForStrong software engineering fundamentals, ideally with significant experience in Python and modern backend/application development.Hands-on experience building applications using LLMs and Generative AI.Experience building AI agents, agentic workflows, RAG systems or LLM-powered applications.Familiarity with modern AI engineering frameworks and patterns such as LangGraph, LangChain, LlamaIndex, MCP, tool calling and structured generation.Experience integrating AI systems with APIs, databases and enterprise systems.Ability to build production-quality software rather than only notebooks, demos or proofs of concept.Strong product intuition and an ability to turn loosely defined problems into working solutions.Excellent communication skills and confidence working directly with senior stakeholders and domain experts.Comfortable operating in ambiguous environments where the problem may initially be more defined than the solution. What Makes You ExceptionalYou don't see AI as another feature to bolt onto existing software. You think about how organizations, workflows and products should operate when intelligence becomes a native part of the system. You can move between conversations with government leaders and domain experts, whiteboarding a completely new operating model, and then sitting down with engineers to build the agents, integrations and infrastructure required to make it real. You are equally comfortable asking: "How does this process work today?" and "Why should it work this way at all?"The MissionGovernments were largely designed around a world where people had to manually retrieve information, interpret documents, coordinate across departments and execute processes.AI changes that assumption. We want to build systems where AI agents can understand, reason, coordinate and execute—with humans providing oversight and judgment where it matters. This role is about more than deploying AI. It's about rewiring government for an AI-first world.Abu Dhabi based On-site (no remote/hybrid)
