AI / Full-Stack Engineer – LLM & Agentic Applications

About EleFitEleFit is building a technology-driven fitness and wellness platform designed to help people build healthier lifestyles that fit into their everyday lives.Our platform brings together fitness tracking, nutrition, workouts, body composition, challenges, smart devices, and personalized guidance. We are now building Ask Ele, an AI-powered fitness and wellness assistant that will use each user's goals, activity, nutrition, progress, and EleFit data to provide personalized, actionable guidance.We are a small, fast-moving team, and this role provides an opportunity to help build an AI product from the ground up and directly influence how it evolves.The RoleWe are looking for an AI / Full-Stack Engineer to help design and build Ask Ele, the conversational intelligence layer of the EleFit platform.This is not primarily a model-training or research position. We are looking for an engineer who knows how to use modern Large Language Models (LLMs) and AI APIs to build reliable, personalized, production-ready applications.You will work closely with EleFit's product and engineering team to build AI capabilities that can understand user questions, retrieve relevant user context, interact with EleFit services, perform actions through tools/functions, and provide useful fitness and wellness guidance.What You'll BuildYou will help develop capabilities such as:Conversational AI experiences using modern LLMsPersonalized responses using user goals, workouts, nutrition, activity, and progress dataAI-powered meal and workout guidanceContext-aware conversations and user memoryFunction/tool calling that allows the AI assistant to interact with EleFit servicesRetrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) for trusted fitness and product knowledgeStructured AI outputs that can be consumed by the mobile applicationGuardrails for health, privacy, hallucination reduction, and responsible AIEvaluation and monitoring systems to measure AI response qualityBackend APIs connecting AI services with EleFit's Flutter/Firebase applicationResponsibilitiesDesign and implement the backend architecture for Ask Ele.Integrate LLM APIs such as OpenAI and other leading AI platforms.Build prompt orchestration, structured outputs, function calling, and agentic workflows.Integrate AI capabilities with Firebase/Firestore and EleFit backend services.Develop APIs that securely expose user context to the AI layer.Build RAG pipelines using embeddings and vector search where appropriate.Implement conversation history, context management, and personalization.Develop evaluation frameworks for accuracy, relevance, safety, latency, and cost.Implement appropriate privacy and security controls for sensitive user information.Collaborate with Flutter/mobile developers to deliver end-to-end AI experiences.Prototype rapidly, test with real users, learn from feedback, and continuously improve the product.Required QualificationsStrong software engineering fundamentals and hands-on backend development experience.Strong proficiency in Python and API development.Practical experience building applications using LLMs and generative AI APIs.Understanding of prompt engineering, structured outputs, function/tool calling, and conversational AI.Experience building REST APIs and integrating third-party services.Experience with databases and cloud-based application development.Understanding of authentication, authorization, API security, and secure handling of user data.Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.Ability to independently take a feature from concept through implementation and production.Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, AI, Data Science, or a related discipline — or equivalent practical experience.Strongly PreferredExperience with one or more of the following would be highly valuable:OpenAI APIs / modern LLM platformsAgentic AI and tool-calling architecturesRetrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)Embeddings and vector databasesFirebase / Firestore / Google CloudFlutter application backendsLangChain, LangGraph, LlamaIndex, or similar frameworksAI evaluation and observabilityRecommendation or personalization systemsHealth, fitness, nutrition, wearable, or wellness applicationsWhat We ValueWe care more about what you can build than how many AI buzzwords you know.You should enjoy working in an early-stage environment where requirements evolve, prototypes become products quickly, and engineers have significant ownership.We are particularly interested in candidates who have already built an LLM-powered application, AI assistant, agent, RAG system, or similar project — professionally or independently.If you are excited about combining AI + software engineering + fitness to build something people can use every day, we'd love to hear from you.
