Co-design is the pillar of AMIGO’s innovation, to ensure that the solutions are tailored to the end user’s needs and are an added-value in the decision-making process.The company works on a number of topics including:Development and improvement of skilful climate forecastsCo-design of tools for managing climate risk for a range of sectors, e.g. renewable energy generationEarly-warning systems to foster the resilience of the energy sector to climate extremes.AMIGO collaborates with research institutions and universities in Europe, Africa, North America, South America, and Australia, and with international organisations such as the World Meteorological Organisation.AMIGO has also been the contractor or key partner of a variety of projects funded by the EU,intergovernmental organisations, and regional administrations.As AI/Machine-Learning Specialist, you will build AI/Machine-Learning models, design and implement algorithms with the aim of gaining insights and extracting information from complex, geo-spatial data. You will join a highly innovative SME, collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team on a wide range of problems in different climate-sensitive sectors.Your roleDesigning, developing and deploying new and improved AI/Machine Learning algorithmsConducting data analysis, feature engineering, and model evaluation to improve accuracy and performanceDocumenting models, processes, and workflows for transparency and reproducibilityManaging individual project priorities, deadlines and deliverablesParticipating in short business trips (domestically and internationally)Minimum qualificationMSc degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g. mathematics, physics, engineering). Holding a PhD is a plus3+ years professional experience working in similar positionsExperience with AI/ML frameworks such as PyTorch, scikit-learn, Keras, etcProficiency in Python and use of the Xarray, GeoPandas and visualization librariesExcellent problem-solving and communication skillsProfessional Working proficiency in spoken and written English (C1)Preferred qualificationSpecific expertise: climate data, earth observations, geospatial data, time series dataCertifications in AI/ML technologies are desirableWorkload management, use of Dockers and ContainersThe ideal candidate is a team-player with a strong ability in problem solving and time management, loves new challenges and is driven curiosity and willingness to understand how things work in practice, is sensitive to the climate crisis and want to help increase the resilience of our society.DetailsFull-time.
