AI Research Team Lead

About the RoleZepp Health is seeking an experienced AI Research Team Lead building next-generation health intelligence algorithms for wearable devices and digital health applications.This role is designed for a strong technical leader with deep expertise in machine learning, physiological signal processing, and health analytics, who can define technical strategy, lead applied scientists, engineers and interns and accelerate research into production.Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical LeadershipDrive the AI algorithm roadmap for wearable health products, including exercise, recovery, sleep, and long-term health management.Architect and review advanced machine learning and signal processing models for physiological and behavioral data.Lead research initiatives in time-series modeling, sensor fusion, personalization, and AI-driven health insights.Establish scientific standards, validation methodologies, and performance benchmarks.Team ManagementLead and mentor a team of applied scientists, ML engineers, and interns.Provide technical direction, code reviews, and research guidance across projects.Break down complex research problems into clear milestones and drive timely execution.Communicate proactively across teams and drive alignment to keep projects move efficiently.Build and scale a strong research culture focused on innovation, ownership, and scientific rigor.Cross-functional CollaborationPartner with product, engineering and domain experts to translate algorithms into user-facing features.Align research priorities with business goals and product strategy.Communicate technical progress, risks, and opportunities clearly to leadership.Required QualificationsMaster or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Signal Processing, Applied Mathematics, or a related field.5+ years of industry or research experience in AI/ML, with at least 2+ years in a technical leadership role.Strong expertise in:Machine LearningSignal ProcessingTime-Series ModelingSensor FusionStatistical ModelingProven experience building algorithms for wearable devices, physiological signals, or digital health applications.Strong hands-on coding skills in Python and ML frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.Demonstrated experience managing or mentoring scientists, engineers, or interns.Preferred QualificationsExperience in exercise physiology, sleep science, cardiovascular health, or metabolic health.Experience with large language models (LLMs) for personalized coaching or health interpretation.Strong publication record or patents in relevant domains.Experience bringing research systems into production at scale.Builds and scales high-performing research teamsBenefits of Working At Zepp HealthCompetitive salary, Vacation day, sick dayHealth insurance, Vision insurance, Dental insurance, life insurance401K & MatchingOther BenefitsZepp Health is an Equal Opportunity employer and welcomes everyone to our team.
