AI Software Engineer – eDV ClearedLocation: LondonSalary: £60,000 - £100,000 DOE + Clearance BonusEmployment: PermanentSecurity Clearance: Active UK eDV Clearance RequiredTo apply, email: Dominic.barbet@searchability.comThe roleWe're hiring an AI Software Engineer to join a specialist technology team delivering cutting-edge AI solutions across the UK National Security community.This is an opportunity to work on highly classified programmes where Artificial Intelligence is being used to solve complex operational challenges. You'll develop innovative AI capabilities that directly support national security missions, working alongside highly skilled engineers, data scientists and security specialists.This is a hands-on engineering role where you'll contribute throughout the full software lifecycle, from understanding mission requirements and designing technical solutions through to building, deploying and supporting AI-powered systems within secure environments.You'll be given the autonomy to take ownership of your work, solve technically challenging problems and help shape the future of AI across some of the UK's most critical programmes.What you'll be doingResponsibilities will vary depending on the programme but typically include:Designing and developing AI-powered applications using Python, TypeScript or similar technologiesBuilding solutions using Large Language Models (LLMs), Machine Learning and other AI techniques to solve complex operational challengesDeveloping secure, scalable software for classified environmentsSupporting solution architecture and technical design across AI programmesWorking closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver mission-critical capabilitiesCreating prototypes, proofs of concept and production-ready AI applicationsEvaluating emerging AI technologies and identifying opportunities to enhance operational capabilityContributing to the continuous improvement of engineering standards, tooling and best practiceWhat we're looking forWe're looking for engineers who are passionate about applying AI to real-world problems within the National Security domain.Essential:Active UK eDV ClearanceExperience developing software using Python, TypeScript or similar programming languagesStrong understanding of Artificial Intelligence, including modern LLMs and traditional Machine Learning techniquesExperience designing and delivering software solutions across the full development lifecycleStrong problem-solving skills with the ability to work on technically complex challengesExcellent communication and collaboration skills within multidisciplinary teamsNice to have (but not required)Experience with AI frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph or similarExperience deploying AI workloads within AWS, Azure or GCPKnowledge of MLOps, containerisation or KubernetesExperience working on National Security, Defence or Intelligence programmesFamiliarity with secure software development within highly classified environments
