We're a fully remote team with delivery centers across the US, Canada, India, and the Philippines, and we're standing up an AI practice to match.About the roleAs an AI Specialist at Caravel, you'll design and deliver applied AI solutions for our clients — from LLM-powered workflows and retrieval systems to agentic automation that plugs into the systems businesses actually run on. You'll be client-facing, working US hours from South America, and you'll partner with our prompt-development pod to take solutions from design to production. If you like solving real business problems with AI — not building demos — this is your seat.What you'll doScope, design, and deliver applied AI solutions — LLM workflows, RAG systems, agentic automation, and model evaluation — integrated into client and business systemsWork directly with clients through discovery, solution design, demos, and delivery, translating business problems into AI that holds up in productionDefine patterns and specifications for the prompt-development pod to build against; review and guide their production buildsEstablish evaluation criteria and measure solution quality, accuracy, and ROIAdvise clients on AI readiness, data, and responsible, safe deploymentContribute to Caravel's reusable AI accelerators and go-to-market offeringsWhat you'll bring4+ years in AI/ML, data science, or applied AI engineering, including hands-on work with LLMs in production or near-production settingsStrong Python and modern AI tooling; experience with RAG, embeddings/vector stores, and at least one major LLM provider or frameworkClient-facing skills — you can lead a working session, explain trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders, and manage scopeFluent English and consistent overlap with US business hoursA pragmatic, outcomes-first approach — you optimize for client value, not noveltyBonus pointsConsulting or professional-services backgroundExposure to ERP/CRM platforms (NetSuite, Salesforce) or finance/operations dataExperience standing up evaluation, observability, or guardrail frameworksCloud (AWS/Azure/GCP) and MLOps familiarityLocation & scheduleFull-time, fully remote within South America, working core US business hours for client and team collaboration.Why CaravelYou'll help stand up Caravel's AI delivery team — close to our clients, close to the work — inside a firm with 20+ years of delivery credibility and a bias for honest, useful solutions over hype.Compensation & benefitsCompetitive base commensurate with experience, a fully remote setup, and the opportunity to help shape a new AI practice from the ground up.We may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support parts of the hiring process, such as reviewing applications, analyzing resumes, or assessing responses and identifying potential inconsistencies or verification signals in application materials based on available information.
