About Sotora GlobalSotora Global is a strategic consultancy that helps climate and nature leaders scale their solutions through integrated policy, communications, and science programmes. Our clients include governments, coalitions, standard-setters, foundations, NGOs, and companies working in carbon and nature markets around the world. We are a team of around ten, fully remote. AI already runs through most of what we do – from research and drafting to reporting and internal operations – and we build our own tools on top of the models we use.Why this role existsWe have taken AI further into strategic communications than most firms in our field. The next set of problems needs someone who understands how the models work underneath. The problems we are working on sit where strategy, engineering, and human professionals meet. Each one needs the communications answer and the technical answer worked out together.Models and tools, and the environments they are used in change every few months, so this work never settles. You would be joining a team that wants to set the standard for how AI is used in advancing strategic communications internationally. What you will doThis is a thinking and doing role. You will move between working through problems with consultants and building the tools that solve them, often in the same week.Work alongside our consultants on live client work, learn what good looks like in our field, and identify where AI can raise the quality or efficiency of that work.Frame problems the team brings you, set out the realistic options and their trade-offs, and recommend one.Design and build the solutions – prompts, Claude skills, agent workflows, retrieval over our own material, and integrations with the tools we already use – then refine them with the people who use them.Set up ways to test AI output against standards our consultants define, so we know when a change has made the work better.Track new models and tools, test the ones that matter to us, and tell us plainly what is worth adopting.Train the team and document what works, so our methods do not depend on any one person. As the technical expert in the team, you will also be responsible for managing our IT systems (Google Workspace, Claude, Float, Fireflies) in collaboration with our Operations Associate. What you will bringA working technical understanding of large language models – context windows, retrieval, fine-tuning and its limits, evaluation, agents, and tool use – and the judgement to pick the right approach for a problem.Hands-on building skills. You write code (Python or similar), work with model APIs, and ship tools people use every day.Strategic thinking. You can take a loosely defined problem from a non-technical colleague, frame it, and propose two or three credible ways forward.A collaborative way of working. You explain technical choices in plain language, treat subject experts as partners, and push back when the evidence supports it.A real interest in language, writing, and how people are persuaded.Fluent written and spoken English. Our clients and colleagues are international.Terms
