At Röhlig, we’re committed to helping you build a long-term career while maintaining a healthy work-life balance — because we believe success is best achieved together.We are seeking a dynamic, detail oriented professional to join our Air Import team, playing a key role in managing international shipments and ensuring seamless end-to-end operations.What you will do:Increasing Branch ProfitsUtilize discretion and independent judgment to engage vendors to increase margin on each shipment.Utilize discretion and independent judgment to ship goods using the most efficient, cost-effective route to increase margin on each shipment.Discretion to engage vendors.Management of vendors.Negotiate rates with shipping vendors.Employee profit and loss on each shipment will be analyzedOverall management of desk to maximize profit.Coordinating Operations with Airfreight ImportsTimely processing of import air documents including registration of shipments.Communicates automation details to subcontractors for reporting to customs.Monitors clearance and delivery of cargo within free storage/holding times.Checking for special instruction on documents.Invoicing and collection of correct charges.Authorizing delivery of air freight.Monitors availability and in conjunction with subcontractors, ensure timely collection of cargo, check in to warehouse and reporting to customs.Follow up on delivery with truckers.Client and Supplier ManagementKeeps record of discrepancies via the Innovations and Incidents Management (IIM) to ensure compliance.Regularly reviews reports to refine and improve services to the customer.Review quotes and records rates to clients and prospective clients.Manages allocated customers using established tools (e.g. activity reports) with a view to achieving and exceeding targets.Traces orders and ensures that information affecting arrival or dispatch is communicated to customers (internally and externally) or their agents, in a timely manner.Keep in touch with competitor activities and industry trends.Deploys information about all contracts with customers and supplies to all parties.Financial and Accounting ResponsibilitiesApproves freight invoices and credit notes, and monitors transport waiting time costs.Pay airline terminal charges, and any other related costs upon arrival, to ensure storage is avoided and no added costs occurred.Prepare payment vouchers and write checks for authorization, and presentation.Processes air freight debtors & creditors in an expeditious manner by verifying they are correct prior to passing them to accounts for payment and providing any supporting documentation for overdue payments, thus reducing impediments to prompt payment.Ensures the department (cost center) achieves its financial and quality objectives.What you bring:High school graduate or G.E.D.Knowledge of related computer applicationsFamiliarity with basic freight forwarding proceduresGlobal knowledge; Freight forwarding, country locationsTwo plus years of related experienceExcellent customer services skillsExcellent administration skillsAttention to detailWell organized, problem solverAbility to work under pressure and meet deadlinesResilientExcellent Customer service skillsExcellent communication skillsShows initiative and driveTeam orientatedWhat we off you:At Röhlig, we believe in supporting our employees' well-being, growth, and work-life balance.
