Through aviation, we empower youth through STEM education, leadership, entrepreneurship, decision-making, and hands-on aviation experiences. Our programs include flight training, ground school, aircraft building, workforce development, and youth leadershipopportunities.Position OverviewFlight Club 502 is seeking a skilled, safety-focused, and highly organized Chief Mechanic to lead the maintenance and technical management of our aircraft fleet. The Chief Mechanic will work directly with Flight Club 502 leadership and collaborate closely with the Chief FlightInstructor, flight instructors, and members to keep our aircraft safe, compliant, reliable, and available for training and club operations.The ideal candidate is an experienced aviation maintenance professional who takes pride in maintaining aircraft to ahigh standard and enjoys working in an active flight-training environment.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and coordinate maintenance activities for the Flight Club 502 aircraft fleet.Perform or coordinate inspections, preventive maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting.Monitor and address aircraft discrepancies and maintenance squawks.Coordinate scheduled and unscheduled maintenance to minimize aircraft downtime.Maintain accurate aircraft maintenance records and track required inspections and recurring maintenance items.Manage aircraft parts, tools, and maintenance inventory.Communicate aircraft maintenance status with flight operations and leadership.Assist with occasional off-station maintenance or aircraft recovery coordination when needed.Support fleet planning, aircraft condition assessments, and maintenance needs.QualificationsFAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Mechanic Certificate required.Experience maintaining general aviation aircraft.Strong troubleshooting and mechanical problem-solving skills.Knowledge of FAA maintenance requirements and aircraft recordkeeping.Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to prioritize maintenance needs in an active flight-training environment.Commitment to safety, professionalism, reliability, and quality workmanship.Experience with training aircraft and piston-powered general aviation fleets is highly desirable.Position Type: Full-TimeSalary Range: $80,000-$120,000 annually, based on experienceSome schedule flexibility and occasional after-hours coordination may be required.This position is a great opportunity for an aviation maintenance professional who wants to take ownership of the safety, reliability, and readiness of a growing general aviation fleet while supporting Flight Club 502's youth aviation mission.
