We combine strong credit judgment, responsive service, technology, and disciplined risk management to provide flexible financing solutions while maintaining a strong commitment to regulatory compliance and responsible lending.As Heartwood continues to grow, we are looking for an AML & Compliance Analyst to support our Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Anti-Terrorist Financing (ATF), Know Your Client (KYC), and broader regulatory compliance program.The RoleThe AML & Compliance Analyst will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day execution of Heartwood's AML/ATF compliance program and assisting with the identification, assessment, investigation, documentation, and escalation of potential financial crime/fraud risks.This is an excellent opportunity for a junior-to-mid-level compliance professional looking to expand their experience within the Canadian financial services and mortgage lending industry.The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, analytical, comfortable reviewing complex borrower and corporate structures, and able to exercise sound judgment when identifying and escalating potential compliance concerns.Key ResponsibilitiesComplete KYC and KYB reviews for borrowers, guarantors, and corporate entities, including beneficial ownership. Conduct AML risk assessments and Enhanced Due Diligence, including source-of-funds review, on higher-risk relationships and transactions. Review sanctions and PEP reports using Sanctions.io, conduct and review adverse media searches, investigate matches and document decisions. Review mortgage transactions for AML red flags and fraud indicators; document findings and escalate findings to the Chief Anti-Money Laundering Officer. Assist with preparing Suspicious Transaction Reports and other FINTRAC filings. Maintain AML policies, compliance records, and audit trails; support FINTRAC examinations and periodic risk assessments. Support the development and implementation of compliance programs for corporate activities under other applicable regulatory schemes.Work closely with Underwriting, Operations, Funding, Servicing, Sales, Legal, and senior management.QualificationsApproximately 2–4 years of experience in AML, compliance, KYC, financial crime, banking, lending, mortgages, fintech, or another regulated financial services environment.Post-secondary education in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Criminology, Law, or a related field.Working knowledge of Canadian AML/ATF requirements and FINTRAC expectations.\Strong analytical and investigative skills, sound judgment, and clear documentation habits.Experience with Sanctions.io, Mortgage Automator, or mortgage lending generally, and CAMS/CFCS certification (or interest in one), are assets.Why Join HeartwoodThis role provides an opportunity to gain broad exposure to AML, mortgage lending, underwriting, operations, and regulatory compliance within a growing Canadian financial institution.
