BettingJobs is working with a fast-growing UK-licensed betting operator to appoint an AML & MLRO Manager. This is a senior compliance appointment with primary ownership of the AML and financial crime framework, alongside Safer Gambling and wider regulatory compliance, reporting into senior management.The role is hands-on and genuinely broad. You will review what is currently in place, identify where it can be strengthened and take full ownership of policies, procedures and day-to-day practice — acting as the designated MLRO and the internal escalation point for financial crime matters. It will suit an experienced compliance professional who wants real autonomy in a growing operator and is comfortable being both strategic and operational.Responsibilities:Own and develop the AML and financial crime compliance framework, ensuring alignment with UKGC requirements, legislation and industry guidanceConduct a full review of existing AML policies, procedures and controls and drive improvementsOversee customer risk assessment, CDD, EDD, Source of Funds and Source of Wealth proceduresProvide guidance on higher-risk customers, unusual activity and complex casesAct as designated MLRO — assessing internal reports, submitting SARs to the National Crime Agency and maintaining investigation recordsReport to senior management on AML risks, cases, trends and control effectivenessMaintain and develop the business-wide money laundering and terrorist financing risk assessmentReview Safer Gambling policies, customer interaction triggers, account restrictions and escalation proceduresAdvise operational teams on complex Safer Gambling cases and ensure decisions are documented and auditableMonitor regulatory developments, support regulatory submissions and information requests, and prepare the business for compliance assessmentsDeliver AML, Safer Gambling and regulatory training, embedding a strong compliance cultureRequirements:Strong experience within UK-regulated online gambling, ideally sportsbookDetailed knowledge of UK Gambling Commission requirements and the LCCPSignificant practical experience of AML, CDD, EDD, SOF and SOW assessmentsStrong understanding of Safer Gambling and customer interaction obligationsExperience handling complex and higher-risk customer casesExcellent written skills, with the ability to produce clear policies, risk assessments and regulatory documentationConfidence to work independently and challenge or advise senior stakeholdersHighly desirable: previous MLRO or Deputy MLRO experience with a UKGC-licensed operator, direct engagement with the Gambling Commission, experience of compliance assessments, and relevant AML or financial crime qualifications
