Android Developer (6-8 Years Experience) Toronto, ON- Location: Hybrid- Schedule: 3 days onsite per week (Tuesday-Thursday, 8:30 AM - 5:50 PM)6+ Months ContractOverviewWe are seeking an experienced Android Developer with 6-8 years of mobile application development experience to design, develop, and maintain high-quality Android applications. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Android Studio, Kotlin, and Jetpack Compose and will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, reliable, and user-friendly mobile solutions.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, test, and maintain Android applications using Kotlin and Android development best practices.Build modern user interfaces using Jetpack Compose.Collaborate with product owners, UX/UI designers, backend developers, and other stakeholders to define and deliver new features.Integrate Android applications with RESTful APIs and external data sources.Perform unit testing and ensure application reliability, usability, and performance.Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve application defects.Optimize application performance, scalability, and maintainability.Participate in code reviews and contribute to development standards and best practices.Utilize Git, Jira, and Confluence for source control and project management.Support Agile development processes and CI/CD practices.Required Qualifications6-8 years of experience in Android application development.Strong proficiency in Kotlin.Hands-on experience with Android Studio.Experience building UI components using Jetpack Compose.Strong understanding of Android SDK, architecture patterns, and mobile development best practices.Experience consuming and integrating RESTful web services and APIs.Knowledge of threading, offline storage, and application performance optimization.Experience with Git-based version control systems.Familiarity with Android testing frameworks and unit testing methodologies.Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.Preferred QualificationsExperience with Java-based Android development.Knowledge of push notifications and cloud messaging services.Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins.Familiarity with Agile methodologies and DevOps practices.Exposure to SQLite, Spring Framework, React, or related technologies.Experience with usability testing and implementing user experience improvements.Knowledge of native Android development concepts, including C/C++ and JNI, is a plus.Essential SkillsAndroid StudioKotlinJetpack ComposeDesired SkillsGitJiraConfluenceJenkinsREST APIsAgile Methodologies
