We’re looking for an Android engineer to help bring the next generation of that hardware to life. You don’t need deep platform experience to apply: if you’re a capable Android or systems engineer who is genuinely curious about how Android works beneath the app layer — the platform (AOSP) and its hardware-interface layer — we’ll help you grow into it. You’ll work closely with our lead device engineer on a small, fast-moving team.What you'll do

• Work alongside our lead device engineer to build and customize the Android platform (AOSP) for our accessibility devices — from the hardware-interface layer up to the apps people use.
• Help modernize the device’s platform and hardware-interface layer so our next-generation hardware can meet the requirements for Google Play (GMS) certification.
• Build accessibility-first, on-device applications and make them reliable, kiosk-grade, and easy to depend on.
• Integrate with device hardware and help keep sensitive on-device logic secure.
• Grow into deeper platform and embedded work over time, and contribute to other Android/mobile work as needs shift.Where you’ll make an impact early
• Getting hands-on with the AOSP platform and its hardware-interface layer.
• Helping ship a Play-Store-certified next-generation device.What we're looking for
• Solid software engineering with Android (Kotlin and/or Java) and/or strong systems programming (C++) — and the ability to pick things up fast.
• Genuine interest in how Android works beneath the app layer — AOSP, platform services, and the hardware-interface layer. Hands-on experience here is a plus, not a requirement.
• Comfort working down the stack in C++/Java — or real eagerness to get there.
• A builder’s mindset and care for reliability.
• An interest in building technology that’s accessible to people with diverse needs.Nice to have
• Hands-on AOSP / platform development (board bring-up, system services, SELinux).
• Android platform / hardware-abstraction (HAL) interface experience.
• GMS (Google Mobile Services) certification / CTS-GTS experience.
• Low-level hardware interaction — GPIO, MIPI, UART.
• Accessibility / assistive-technology experience.
• Taking a product from birth to launch (0-to-1 / new-product development).
• Solar or energy industry experience.
• Regulated or medical-device software experience.
