About the RoleAndroid Lead Developer – Melbourne (Hybrid)We are seeking an experienced Android Lead Developer to join a growing technology team in Melbourne. This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on technical leader who is passionate about building high-quality Android applications, driving technical excellence and mentoring Developers. You will take ownership of Android development, working across modern Android technologies and architecture while collaborating with product, design and engineering teams to deliver scalable, reliable and user-friendly mobile applications.ResponsibilitiesLead the design, development and delivery of Android applications.Build and maintain applications using Android, Kotlin, XML and Jetpack Compose.Work across Android components, including Activities, Fragments and Compose Views.Develop and manage background processing and services.Implement and manage Android permissions, lifecycle management and application security.Drive best practices around code quality, performance, testing and maintainability.Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other developers.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define technical solutions and deliver new features.Troubleshoot, optimise and continuously improve application performance.Required SkillsStrong commercial experience in Android application development.Excellent knowledge of Kotlin and the Android SDK.Hands-on experience with both XML layouts and Jetpack Compose.Strong understanding of Activities, Fragments and Android application architecture.Experience with background work, services, threading and permissions.Solid understanding of Android lifecycle management and performance optimisation.Experience leading technical delivery and mentoring Android developers.Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate technical concepts effectively.Pay range and compensation packageCompetitive salary package commensurate with experience.About the RoleMelbourne-based position with a flexible hybrid working arrangement.Opportunity to take a technical leadership role within a collaborative engineering team.Work on interesting and challenging Android development initiatives.If you're an experienced Android developer ready to step into a leadership role, or an established Android Lead looking for your next challenge, we'd love to hear from you.
