ABOUT MICHAEL’S DAUGHTER FOUNDATIONMichael’s Daughter Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting youth and families impacted by mass incarceration. Through arts education, storytelling, and wellness-based programming, we create opportunities for young people to develop creative skills, express themselves, and share their stories.ABOUT THE ROLEMichael’s Daughter Foundation is seeking experienced 2D and 3D animators to join our team as Animation Teaching Artists.Our animation program produces original short animated films with young people inside Los Angeles County juvenile facilities. Teaching Artists guide participants through the filmmaking process, including concept development, storytelling, storyboarding, character design, animation, editing, and final delivery.This is a hands-on, facility-facing position. You will work on-site inside juvenile facilities and co-teach each class alongside another Teaching Artist. Candidates must feel comfortable working directly with system-impacted youth in a secure environment and following all facility protocols.COMPENSATION$100 - $115 per hour for instruction. $50 per hour for approved preparation, administrative work, meetings, and training.RESPONSIBILITIES

• Co-teach animation classes inside Los Angeles County juvenile facilities
• Help youth develop and produce original animated short films
• Teach accessible 2D or 3D animation techniques
• Guide story development, storyboarding, character design, and production
• Adapt lessons for students with different experience levels and learning needs
• Create a structured, engaging, and supportive classroom environment
• Collaborate with your co-teacher and MDF program staff
• Prepare lesson plans and organize project files and materials
• Track student progress and complete required program documentation
• Follow all MDF and facility policies, safety procedures, and confidentiality requirements
• Participate in required meetings, training, and onboardingQUALIFICATIONS
• Professional experience in 2D or 3D animation
• A portfolio or reel demonstrating animation and visual storytelling skills
• Proficiency with relevant animation and editing software
• Experience teaching, mentoring, facilitating, or working with youth
• Ability to explain creative and technical concepts clearly
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Patience, reliability, flexibility, and sound judgment
• Ability to maintain appropriate professional boundaries
• Weekday availability for in-person programming
• Reliable transportation to program sites across Los Angeles County
• Comfort working inside juvenile facilitiesPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience producing animated short films
• Experience working with system-impacted or justice-involved youth
• Experience in arts education, youth development, or trauma-informed programming
• Knowledge of Blender, Adobe Creative Cloud, Toon Boom, Maya, Procreate Dreams, or comparable animation tools
• Experience managing animation projects from concept through final delivery
• Weekend availabilityEMPLOYMENT DETAILS
• Part-time, on-site position
• Programs take place at juvenile facilities throughout Los Angeles County
• Classes are generally scheduled on weekdays or weekends
• Teaching Artists work alongside a co-teacher
