Apply & track with Apply EdgeOur client, a large and highly respected financial services organization, is seeking an AML Investigator to join its growing compliance team. This position will be responsible for investigating potentially suspicious financial activity, analyzing large volumes of transactional data, and supporting the organization’s Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and regulatory compliance program.The ideal candidate will have at least 1 year of AML investigation experience within a large financial institution, strong analytical and investigative skills, and advanced Excel capabilities. This is a data-heavy role requiring someone who is comfortable working with large datasets, identifying trends and anomalies, and documenting findings clearly and accurately.Key ResponsibilitiesConduct investigations of potentially suspicious activity in accordance with AML/BSA policies and regulatory requirements.Review customer profiles, transaction activity, account history, and other relevant information to identify potential money laundering, fraud, or other financial crimes.Analyze large and complex datasets to identify unusual patterns, trends, and transactional activity.Utilize Excel extensively to organize, analyze, filter, and interpret large volumes of data.Conduct research using internal systems, public records, and other available sources to support investigations.Prepare detailed investigative documentation and clearly articulate findings, rationale, and recommendations.Escalate potentially suspicious activity in accordance with established procedures.Ensure investigations are completed accurately and within required service-level and regulatory timeframes.Collaborate with AML, Compliance, Risk, Fraud, and other internal teams as needed.Maintain a strong understanding of AML/BSA regulations, policies, and investigative procedures.Handle sensitive and confidential information with a high degree of discretion.Qualifications1+ year of AML investigation experience within a large financial institution is required.Experience conducting transaction monitoring or suspicious activity investigations.Strong knowledge of AML/BSA principles and financial crime concepts.Advanced Excel skills, including the ability to work efficiently with large datasets, filtering, sorting, pivot tables, lookups, and data analysis.Highly analytical with strong attention to detail and the ability to identify patterns and anomalies within large amounts of information.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Strong investigative, critical-thinking, and problem-solving abilities.Ability to manage multiple investigations and meet established deadlines.Experience working in a high-volume, highly regulated financial services environment.Preferred QualificationsExperience with transaction monitoring or AML case management systems.Familiarity with SAR investigations and regulatory reporting.CAMS certification or progress toward certification.Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Criminal Justice, or a related field.Ideal CandidateThe ideal candidate is an analytical, detail-oriented AML professional who enjoys digging into data and following the facts. They should be comfortable working independently on complex investigations, possess strong Excel and data-analysis capabilities, and have proven experience within a large financial institution.
