API Connect Designer / Architect - On-Site

As an API Connect Designer / Architect, you will help define the architecture, standards, and governance practices that support scalable, secure, and reliable API ecosystems, while partnering closely with architecture, engineering, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and DevOps stakeholders.ResponsibilitiesDesign and architect enterprise API management solutions using IBM API ConnectDefine scalable, secure, and highly available API platform architecturesDesign and govern the full API lifecycle, including design, development, deployment, versioning, monitoring, and retirementEstablish enterprise API standards, design guidelines, naming conventions, and reusable patternsDesign and implement API security policies, including authentication, authorization, rate limiting, throttling, and access controlsConfigure and govern API Gateway policies and security mechanismsDesign API integrations with internal applications, external systems, and third-party servicesDefine API architecture patterns aligned with enterprise integration and technology standardsEstablish API governance frameworks, standards, policies, and best practicesReview API designs and ensure compliance with architecture and governance standardsPartner with enterprise and solution architects to align API solutions with broader enterprise architectureCollaborate with application development, integration, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and DevOps teamsAnalyze business and technical requirements and translate them into scalable API and integration architecturesDesign API security using standards such as OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWT, and related protocolsRequirementsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field10-12 years of experience in API management and integration architecture, including work in large enterprise integration environmentsHands-on experience with IBM API Connect, including designing enterprise API management solutions and configuring API Gateway policiesStrong background designing REST APIs, working with SOAP web services, and supporting microservices integrationExperience connecting APIs with databases, applications, middleware, and external systems across enterprise backend integrationsExperience modernizing integration landscapes, including exposing legacy services through modern APIsSolid understanding of HTTP/HTTPS, JSON, and XMLHands-on experience implementing API security controls, including authentication, authorization, rate limiting, throttling, routing, and related security policiesExperience designing secure API architectures using OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, JWT, TLS/SSL, and mTLSExperience integrating API platforms with enterprise IAM solutions or identity providersBackground in Banking or FinTech environments, with experience designing API security architectures and controls to protect against common API threatsHands-on experience with enterprise API governance frameworks, including API design standards, naming conventions, documentation, versioning, and reusable API patternsExperience governing the API lifecycle from design and approval through deployment, monitoring, versioning, and retirementExperience conducting formal API architecture and design reviews and working through cross-functional API approval and governance processes
