With access to over 20 million global talents, powerful filtering, and continuous talent nurturing, HummingBird helps employers build a scalable and modern recruitment ecosystem.Role Description The API Engineer will design, develop, and maintain secure, scalable APIs that power HummingBird’s talent platform and its integrations with major VMS/ATS systems. In this full-time hybrid role based in New Delhi, the engineer will spend part of their time onsite collaborating with product, data, and engineering teams, while also having flexibility to work from home. Day-to-day responsibilities include implementing new API endpoints, optimizing existing services for performance and reliability, and ensuring robust authentication, authorization, and data handling practices. The API Engineer will troubleshoot production issues, perform debugging and performance tuning, and contribute to API documentation and best practices. The role also involves participating in code reviews, aligning APIs with product requirements, and supporting quick and automated integration setups for customers.QualificationsCandidates should possess strong Software Development and Programming skills, with experience building and consuming RESTful or GraphQL APIs.Candidates should possess Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) skills and a solid understanding of clean code, design patterns, and scalable architecture.Candidates should possess Debugging skills and be proficient in diagnosing, resolving, and preventing issues in distributed systems.Candidates should possess knowledge of Embedded Systems when relevant to integrating edge devices or specialized hardware with API services.Experience with API security (authentication, authorization, encryption) and performance optimization.Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization/orchestration tools (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).Proficiency with version control (Git) and collaborative development workflows.Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment, communicate clearly with cross-functional teams, and adapt to evolving product requirements.
