API Test Lead

Position OverviewWe are seeking a senior API Test Lead to drive quality engineering for modern, cloud-based applications. This role will own the API testing approach, automation, technical quality standards, and coordination of testing activities across multiple engineering teams.What You’ll DoOwn the overall API and integration testing strategy for complex enterprise applications.Build and enhance automated testing solutions for REST APIs and microservices.Work closely with development and DevOps teams to embed testing throughout the CI/CD lifecycle.Validate APIs deployed across Azure, AKS, APIM, Apigee, and cloud-native environments.Establish quality checkpoints and provide recommendations around release and production readiness.Drive testing standards across multiple teams and help identify technical and delivery risks early.Perform validation of API authentication, authorization, and security controls.Support performance testing by defining workloads, NFRs, benchmarks, and acceptance criteria.Review test results, investigate failures, and communicate quality status to technical and business stakeholders.Guide and mentor QA engineers on automation, API testing, and modern QE practices.Required Experience10+ years of experience in Quality Engineering / Software Testing, with strong exposure to API and integration testing.Hands-on experience with REST APIs, microservices, and API automation.Experience working with Azure, AKS, APIM or Apigee, along with modern CI/CD environments.Strong knowledge of JWT, OAuth 2.0, Microsoft Entra ID, RBAC, and API security.Experience with tools such as Postman, Rest Assured, SoapUI, JMeter, or similar.Good understanding of Swagger/OpenAPI, JSON, HTTP/HTTPS, SQL, and automated testing frameworks.Experience working in large-scale migration, modernization, or transformation programs.Strong leadership, communication, stakeholder-management, and problem-solving skills.PreferredExperience establishing API performance and non-functional testing standards.Exposure to Kubernetes/cloud-native architectures and enterprise production-release processes.Experience working in Agile environments with distributed engineering teams.
