Application Engineer (SolidWorks)Michigan Center, MIFull-Time | In-Office with Occasional TravelAbout the OpportunityWe're partnering with a Michigan-based leader in machinery installation, vibration isolation, and equipment anchoring products to find their next Application Engineer. Their products are used in power generation, machine tools, manufacturing, testing, medical, and other industries. This team is close-knit, with direct access to leadership and a lot of room to grow. They want a CAD-strong engineer who enjoys working with people as much as solving technical problems.The RoleOur client is looking for an Application Engineer with a strong SolidWorks background to support customers, consulting engineers, and field sales in applying the company's products to real-world installations. This is a CAD-heavy role. You'll create detailed part, assembly, and fabrication drawings every day, including complex steel fabrications for steam and gas turbine generator projects.It's also a people-facing role. You'll talk with customers and sales reps regularly, help train the sales team, and occasionally travel to customer and project sites. You'll report to the Senior Application Engineer and work closely with project managers, customer service, fabrication shops, and leadership.ResponsibilitiesHandle incoming calls and emails from customers and field sales requesting technical assistanceProvide engineering support for the application of the company's products and prepare written product proposalsUse SolidWorks to create detailed kit and fabrication drawings for power generation equipment installations, including base frames, soleplates, chock and shim assemblies, anchor bolt layouts, and related structural componentsApply GD&T to detail drawings to ensure fit, function, and manufacturability, and manage revisions as designs move through quoting and orderingCoordinate with fabrication shops to confirm drawings are shop-ready and resolve fit-up, tolerancing, or weldment questionsProduce drawings that support quotations for manufacturing, purchasing, and customersCreate and maintain product detail drawings, drawing standards, and document control proceduresMaintain specifications and literature for company and competitive product linesHelp establish quality control standards for company productsHelp train sales personnel, both in-house and in the fieldHelp prepare and review product data sheets, brochures, catalogs, and other sales materialsTravel occasionally to customer and project sites as neededParticipate in project meetings and help evaluate potential new productsWhat Our Client Is Looking ForBachelor's degree in engineering, preferably Mechanical3+ years of engineering experience. Entry-level candidates with strong training or education will also be consideredSolidWorks proficiency required, including daily creation of part, assembly, and fabrication drawingsSolid understanding of GD&T and the ability to apply it to detail drawingsAbility to interpret engineering sketches, specifications, and technical documentsExperience in power generation, machinery installation, vibration isolation, or manufacturing preferredGeneral knowledge of machinery installation and construction practices a plusA true people person who is comfortable working directly with customers, sales reps, and fabrication shopsExcellent communication skills, both written and verbalWillingness to travel occasionally to customer and project sitesExcellent attention to detail and accuracyStrong organizational and time-management skillsA proactive problem-solver who can work creatively with limited information and anticipate issues before they come upScheduleMonday–Friday, standard business hoursOccasional extended hours to meet project deadlinesOffice-based, with occasional travel to customer and project sitesCompensation & Benefits$65,000–$70,000 base salary, depending on experienceLots of growth opportunity within the companyDirect access to leadership on a close-knit teamOpportunity to build a long-term career with a specialized, well-established companyUniiited is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
