Application Operations Specialist

Job Purpose:Perform the day-to-day design and operations for critical and important applications servicing the organization.Daily App Health Checks.Participate in CAB reviews (Change Management).Post Change Application Check.Automate where possible.Key Responsibilities:•  Manage multiple applications used by the organization to ensure scalable, reliable, and available systems.•  Participate in design/develop application operations strategy which interacts effectively with application owners and application users.•  Input into the design monitoring for in-scope applications.•  Understand how IAM, PAM and Cyber rules apply to applications.•  Provide technical support and feedback to application and development teams.•  Conduct analysis to identify trends in application use.•  Develop application availability dashboards to highlight when an application is unavailable.•  Input to application uptime statistics for the monthly SLA metric reporting.•  Champion creating proper documentation of how applications/software is deployed, how to start the application from a cold start, what services are critical etc.•  Experience with Microsoft Active Directory and how it is used to deliver applications to end customers.•  Monitor application usage for adoption and improvement.•  Work with and build good relationships with internal customers to understand how they are using their applications.•  Develop and maintains technology service, technical standards and process documents relating to Application services.•  Participate in root cause analysis and subsequent resolution of action items affecting reliability of Application services and reduction of failure rates and downtime of IT/OT services.•  Develop & plan maintenance activities for applications.•  Contribute to the Knowledge System and share knowledge within the first line support team.•  Manage ongoing technology delivery to service level agreements from projects to application and business owner.•  Recommends cost savings/efficiencies.•  Proactive in learning and taking certifications.•  Champion process automation, being effective in writing scripts, using automation tools such as Ansible to speed up tasks and increase quality.•  Able to write code in any of the following (PowerShell, Visual Basic, JavaScript, Python, C#, HTML, HTML5, ASP).•  Develop and enhance system usage efficiency.•  Maintaining software and system updates.•  Assist with patch planning, deployment and restart of the full system as required.• Learn from outages how to improve processes and application uptime.Education:•   Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or Related.• Preferred: ITIL v3+ Foundation.Skills & Competencies:•   Continuous Improvement•   Strong oral, written communication and presentation skills•   Service and customer oriented•   Process oriented & disciplined•   Strong analytical/problem solving skills•   Ability to influence & educate•   Proven ability to successfully interface with service providers and vendors•   Application Development•   Application DesignMinimum Experience:•  3+ years' experience working in a large company or with a government entity.•  Experience with OT and/or Manufacturing a plus.•  Experience with Software Development frameworks and methodologies.
