Applications Engineer

Job DescriptionThis is a key role for providing essential service and responsibility for producing practical design solutions, including support documentation, to meet customer expectations and assembly methods based upon technical specifications provided and/or site survey information.Reporting to the Customer Service Manager in this role you will be interacting with other sites and areas of the business to ensure designs meet the desired criteria. Provide design advice, interpret prospective customer requirements and estimate costs to meet those requirements. You'll work across our actuator ranges, as well as pneumatic actuator platforms, translating customer specifications and P&IDs into technically sound, commercially viable solutions. Interpreting customer specifications, datasheets, and P&IDs to select and size electric and pneumatic actuators, gearboxes, and control panel accessories correctly the first time.In this role you will produce cost effective and reliable design solutions to meet customers’ needs, engineering and specifying control panel builds; reviewing wiring schematics, terminal layouts, and control philosophy (open/close, modulating, ESD interlocks) to ensure panels meet customer and project requirements before they hit the shop floor. Producing technical proposals, pre-qualification documentation, and compliance/deviation schedules that hold up under customer and third-party scrutiny.This role will suit someone who's comfortable being the technical anchor point on a project; not just answering questions, making the right questions get asked before a panel gets built or an actuator gets shipped.QualificationsExperience Requirements:A bachelor’s degree in electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electrical and Instrumentation, Mechanical, Chemical, or Instrumentation Engineering.Solid mechanical/electrical engineering background with knowledge in electric and/or pneumatic actuators, valve automation, or control panel engineeringExperience preparing technical proposals, quotations, or pre-qualification documentation in an industrial or process-automation environment.Knowledge and hands-on experience with CAD or electrical schematic software is essential.Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook.Fluent EnglishThe Successful Candidate:Provides exceptional levels of customer service, treating technical accuracy and responsivenessResponds swiftly and accurately to customer queries within pre-agreed timescalesProduces sales quotations, pre-qualification documents, technical proposals, and any other technical information required by the customer or potential customer.Executes and processes purchase orders in a way that supports the customer's delivery requirements.Proactive approach to day to day work and problem solvingAbility to set the prioritiesGood level of time management Additional InformationRotork is the market-leading global flow control and instrumentation company, helping our customers manage the flow of liquids, gases and powders across many industries worldwide.Our purpose is Keeping the World Flowing for Future Generations.For over sixty years, the world has relied on us to create the things that keep everything moving.
