Position OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Hatchery Manager to provide overall operational, technical, and personnel leadership for hatchery production at Cultimar Technologies. This role has full responsibility for coordinating broodstock, larval rearing, and nursery operations through their respective managers, ensuring that all production stages operate as a cohesive, efficient, and biologically optimized system. The Hatchery Manager is accountable for meeting production targets, maintaining high biological performance, and ensuring operational readiness as the hatchery scales. The Hatchery Manager will serve as the primary integration point between biology, operations, and strategy, translating executive objectives into executable production plans while providing clear feedback to the executive team on performance, risks, and resource needs. This individual will oversee scheduling, staffing, system utilization, and process optimization across the hatchery, with a strong emphasis on reliability, repeatability, and continuous improvement. In addition to directing day-to-day operations, the Hatchery Manager will play a key role in long-term planning, including capacity expansion, infrastructure upgrades, staffing growth, and refinement of standard operating procedures. The role requires a balance of hands-on technical understanding and high-level management capability, with the expectation that the Hatchery Manager can diagnose biological or operational bottlenecks, align teams around solutions, and ensure consistent execution across all hatchery functions. The Hatchery Manager reports directly to the executive team and is the ultimate point of accountability for hatchery performance and readiness. Key Responsibilities· Provide day-to-day leadership and oversight of all hatchery operations, including broodstock, larval rearing, nursery, and supporting systems.· Direct and manage the Broodstock Manager, Larval Rearing Manager, Nursery Manager, and associated technical staff to ensure aligned priorities, clear communication, and effective execution.· Develop and implement integrated hatchery production plans that coordinate spawning schedules, larval output, nursery capacity, and downstream logistics.· Monitor hatchery-wide performance metrics, including survival, growth, production consistency, system reliability, and staffing efficiency; identify risks and implement corrective actions.· Ensure that all hatchery systems operate within established water quality, biosecurity, animal welfare, and regulatory standards.· Oversee staffing plans, training, and performance management across hatchery teams, fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.· Coordinate hatchery infrastructure planning, system upgrades, maintenance schedules, and capital improvements in collaboration with the executive team.· Collaborate closely with research partners and internal scientists to support applied R&D, process optimization, and scale-up of production protocols.· Prepare regular operational updates, performance summaries, and planning inputs for the executive team.· Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, permits, and industry best practices across all hatchery activities.Qualifications & Experience· Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aquaculture, Marine Biology, Fisheries Science, or a related field.· Minimum 7–10 years of progressive experience in marine hatchery or aquaculture operations, including multi-stage production systems.· Demonstrated experience managing managers or senior technical staff in a production-oriented environment.· Strong understanding of broodstock management, larval rearing, nursery operations, and hatchery life support systems.· Proven ability to integrate biological performance with operational planning and staff management.· Hands-on familiarity with hatchery infrastructure, plumbing, filtration, pumps, and system design.· Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to interface effectively with technical teams and executive leadership.· Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.· U.S. work authorization is strongly preferred.What We OfferCompetitive salary based on experience.Opportunities for professional growth and research collaboration.A chance to be part of a pioneering team in sustainable aquaculture.
