Both roles work as integral members of the Sarasota Residential team, contributing to our standards of excellence in design, execution, and living design. Salary will be commensurate with experience.CERTIFICATES AND/OR LICENSESArchitect: Licensure required; LEED accreditation preferred.Senior Architectural Associate: No licensure required; additional professional association encouraged.EXPECTATIONSA professional degree in Architecture (Architect), or in Architecture, Design, or a related discipline (Senior Architectural Associate)Experience in all phases and aspects of a project deliverableExperienced with building codes, specifications, and building and engineering systemsAdvanced knowledge of project design and construction documentation productionHighly skilled in Revit, CAD, SketchUp, Bluebeam, Microsoft, and LumionStrong verbal and written communication skillsProblem-solving skills, organized attention to detail, and a willingness to mentor others

• Collaborative and professional work ethicESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESUnderstands and consistently executes all aspects of the design process and project complexities to proactively contribute to the overall success of the team while adhering to firm and project goals and standards of excellence in designCoordinates project documentation execution, construction plans, and details, ensuring quality control and completion on small and mid-scale projects in accordance with MHK standards and checklists
• Responsible for technical BIM leadership, documentation coordination, and leading project team assignments; leads coordination with consultants and on constructabilityDevelops creative and innovative design ideas, concepts, and solutions while participating as an integral member of the design teamEvaluates and integrates engineering systems and implements code, accessibility, life-safety, and zoning analysesExecutes applicable agency review analysis (DRB, Site Plan Applications, etc.)Conducts and documents field observations to monitor progress of constructionImplements a creative approach to completing tasks and responsibilities on projects within the scope of schedule and budget in an organized, timely, and consistent wayAbility to serve as primary client contact upon request while effectively coordinating with team members, consultants, and contractorsAnalyzes product research and identifies material selectionsTakes an active role in crafting client and non-client design presentations and prepares corresponding materialsAdvanced understanding of planning, programming, and design principles and methodsUnderstands and responds to the technical implications of design decisionsPrepares reports and specifications; reviews completed reports, plans, cost estimates, and calculations
• Performs construction administration duties (e.g., RFIs, submittals, change orders, etc.)Maintains developing awareness of evolving building technology and systemsTakes increasing ownership of tasks within project teams and studio activitiesEmpowers junior staff and their growthMay manage and mentor staff as assignedFosters an approachable environment with open communication within the team and with the designated team lead
