Area Manager

Manage cleaning services across multiple sites, ensuring high service standards, client satisfaction, compliance, and profitability while leading and developing site teams.Key ResponsibilitiesOversee the day-to-day delivery of cleaning contracts, ensuring contractual and service level requirements are met.Build and maintain strong client relationships as the main point of contact.Conduct site inspections, quality audits, and implement corrective actions where needed.Recruit, train, supervise, and support cleaning teams to deliver high standards.Manage staffing levels, rotas, attendance, and performance.Control budgets, labour costs, and consumable usage to achieve profitability targets.Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation, COSHH, risk assessments, and company procedures.Investigate incidents, complaints, and non-conformances, implementing improvements where required.Produce performance reports, attend client review meetings, and identify opportunities for service growth and improvement.Key Measures of SuccessSLA and contract performanceClient satisfactionAudit and quality resultsBudget and profitability targetsStaff retention and attendanceHealth & Safety compliancePerson SpecificationEssentialExperience managing cleaning or facilities management contracts.Strong leadership and people management skills.Excellent communication and client relationship skills.Budget management experience.Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and COSHH.Strong organisational and IT skills.Full driving licence.DesirableFacilities Management or Cleaning Management qualification.Working EnvironmentMulti-site role with regular travel.Flexibility to work occasional evenings, weekends, and participate in an on-call rota if requiredHealth & SafetyPromote a positive safety culture and ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and company policies.Ensure staff are trained, risk assessments are completed, and PPE is used appropriately.This job description may be amended to reflect business and operational needs.
