Artificial Intelligence (AI) & Computer Vision Lead

About the roleTo lead the development and deployment of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Computer Vision (CV) solutions for optimizing container terminal operations. This role will drive the digital transformation initiatives in port and terminal operations. he will design, implement and support the intelligent automation solutions that extract and process data from physical documents, container labels, gate passes, and other operational artifacts to streamline workflows and improve efficiency.Key AccountabilitiesDevelop and deploy Optical Character Recognition (OCR) based solutions to digitize and automate data extraction from shipping documents, container labels, customs forms, and handwritten logs.Integrate OCR pipelines with terminal operating systems (TOS), ERP platforms, and automation tools (e.g., UiPath, Power Automate).Apply image preprocessing techniques to enhance OCR accuracy in challenging environments (e.g., outdoor lighting, low-quality scans).Build and maintain computer vision models for document classification, layout analysis, and real-time video/image processing from port surveillance systems.Collaborate with operations team, Engineering and IT teams to identify automation opportunities and deliver scalable solutions.Conduct testing and validation of OCR models across various document types and formats used in port operations.Monitor performance and continuously improve OCR accuracy and processing speed.Document solutions and provide training/support to end-users and stakeholders.Qualifications, Skills and ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.Proven experience in OCR and computer vision development, preferably in logistics or industrial environments.Strong proficiency in Python and libraries such as OpenCV, PyTesseract, EasyOCR.Familiarity with cloud-based OCR services (Google Vision API, AWS Textract, Azure Cognitive Services).Experience with automation platforms (UiPath, Power Automate, or custom Python-based workflows).Understanding of port and terminal operations is a strong advantage.Proven track record in deploying AI and computer vision systems in industrial or logistics environments.Knowledge of NLP for post-OCR text normalization and validation.Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.Strong communication and collaboration abilitiesTeam player with a hands-on, practical mindsetAbility to lead cross-functional projects.About Asian Terminals IncorporatedATI operates the Manila South Harbor – the premier international trade gateway for Metro Manila, the Batangas Container Terminal – the most modern container port for Calabarzon, the Integrated Batangas Port which includes the Batangas Passenger Terminal – recognized as the Biggest, Busiest, and most Modern interisland transport hub in the country, and strategic Inland Logistics Terminals in Manila, Laguna and Batangas which serve as major dry port infrastructure and linchpins to economic zones in Luzon.
