Artificial Intelligence (AI) Specialist / Engineer

3D Tact Ltd is developing PrintabilityAI, an AI platform for additive manufacturing, engineering design and digital assurance. We are looking for an AI Engineer to help build and commercialise three core capabilities: AI assisted 3D design and creative modelling, additive manufacturing process intelligence, and assurance and certification automation.The role will involve developing practical AI systems rather than purely experimental research.ResponsibilitiesDevelop machine learning and generative AI models for additive manufacturing applications.Build AI workflows for text to 3D, image to 3D, CAD generation, geometry processing and design optimisation.Develop predictive models for material selection, process parameters, manufacturability, printability and part quality.Build LLM and RAG based systems capable of working with engineering standards, technical documents, qualification requirements and certification evidence.Develop computer vision and engineering data analysis capabilities.Integrate AI models with APIs, databases, CAD tools, manufacturing systems and web applications.Build prototypes rapidly and convert successful concepts into production ready software.Work with manufacturing, engineering and commercial teams to turn customer problems into scalable AI products.RequirementsDegree in AI, Computer Science, Data Science, Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or a related discipline.Strong Python skills.Practical experience with PyTorch, TensorFlow, scikit learn or equivalent ML frameworks.Experience in machine learning, deep learning, computer vision, generative AI or LLM based systems.Experience with APIs, Git and modern software development practices.Ability to independently research technical problems and develop working prototypes.Highly desirable experience3D generative AI, CAD automation, meshes, point clouds or geometry processing.Additive manufacturing, DfAM, materials or manufacturing process optimisation.LLMs, RAG, embeddings, vector databases and technical knowledge systems.Engineering standards, quality assurance, qualification or certification.Cloud deployment, Docker, databases and production ML pipelines.What we offerOpportunity to work directly on commercial AI products at the intersection of artificial intelligence, additive manufacturing and advanced engineering.Significant technical ownership and direct involvement in product architecture and development decisions.Opportunity to work on industrial collaborations, funded innovation projects and emerging manufacturing technologies.Scope for progression as the PrintabilityAI platform and 3D Tact grow.Hiring processInitial application review.Short technical discussion covering previous AI projects and relevant experience.Practical technical assessment or review of an existing portfolio, GitHub project or comparable work.Final discussion covering role fit, responsibilities and employment terms.Applicant privacyApplication information will be used only for recruitment, candidate assessment and related employment administration.
