Artificial Intelligence Engineer

About the RoleWe are looking for an experienced AI/ML Backend Engineer to design, build and deploy production-ready AI solutions. You will work on Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), AI Agents and scalable backend services that power intelligent enterprise applications.This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who enjoys solving real business problems using modern AI technologies while building reliable, secure and scalable systems.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop and deploy production-grade AI and Machine Learning applications.Build intelligent AI Agents using LLMs, RAG pipelines, embeddings and vector databases.Develop scalable backend APIs and microservices using Python and modern backend frameworks.Optimise AI models and inference pipelines for performance, latency and cost.Implement prompt engineering, model evaluation and fine-tuning techniques where required.Integrate AI services with enterprise applications, databases and third-party platforms.Build reliable monitoring, logging, testing and deployment pipelines for AI systems.Collaborate closely with Product, Engineering and Design teams to deliver business-focused AI solutions.Required Skills & ExperienceAI, Machine Learning & NLP1+ years of experience developing Machine Learning applications in production environments.Strong experience with Natural Language Processing (NLP), Large Language Models (LLMs) and Generative AI.Hands-on experience with Transformer architectures, embeddings, vector databases and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG).Experience building AI Agents, multi-agent workflows and reasoning systems.Good understanding of prompt engineering, model evaluation and LLM optimisation techniques.Experience working with OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini or open-source LLMs.Backend Engineering & System DesignStrong proficiency in Python.Experience with PyTorch, TensorFlow or similar Machine Learning frameworks.Strong understanding of REST APIs, FastAPI, Flask or similar backend frameworks.Experience designing scalable microservices and distributed systems.Knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD and cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or Google Cloud.Familiarity with PostgreSQL, Redis, MongoDB and vector databases such as Pinecone, Weaviate, Milvus or ChromaDB.Understanding of monitoring, observability, testing and production deployment best practices.Business & CollaborationAbility to translate business requirements into practical AI solutions.Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking.Excellent communication and collaboration skills.Comfortable working in a fast-paced product environment with ownership and accountability.Passion for building AI products that create measurable business value.Preferred QualificationsExperience building enterprise AI SaaS platforms.Experience with LangChain, LangGraph, LlamaIndex, CrewAI or similar AI orchestration frameworks.Knowledge of MLOps, model serving and production monitoring.Experience with AI security, guardrails and responsible AI practices.Exposure to workflow automation platforms and enterprise integrations.Why Join SWAKIO?Work on cutting-edge AI and Agentic AI products.Build scalable AI solutions used by businesses globally.Collaborate with a highly skilled engineering team.Opportunity to work with the latest LLMs, AI frameworks and cloud technologies.High ownership, rapid learning and real product impact.
