AI Engineer/ Technical LeadCentral LondonHybrid working with flexibility around office days£130,000–£160,000 depending on experienceWe're working with a fast-growing FinTech using AI and LLMs to transform the financial application process, helping customers move from application to decision significantly faster.They're looking for an AI-focused Technical Lead to lead a team of around 4 engineers while remaining deeply hands-on with the technology.This isn't a management role where you'll spend your days in meetings. You'll be designing, building and shipping AI systems into production, while mentoring the team and shaping the technical direction of the platform.What you'll be doingDesign and build production-grade AI and LLM applicationsTake AI solutions from experimentation through to productionWork across LLMs, RAG, AI agents and AI-driven workflowsMake architectural decisions around AI systems, APIs and dataImprove reliability, scalability and performance of AI applicationsPair with engineers and raise the technical bar across the teamWork closely with the Head of Engineering to shape the AI roadmapWhat they're looking forStrong experience as an AI Engineer, ML Engineer, or Technical LeadProven experience taking LLM/GenAI solutions into productionStrong Python and software engineering fundamentalsExperience with LLMs, RAG, AI agents, APIs and cloud platformsSomeone who enjoys solving complex technical problems and getting into the detailStrong communication skills and comfortable challenging technical decisionsEducated at a Russell Group university, preferably a degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, AI/ML, Physics or another relevant technical disciplineIf you're an AI Engineer who wants to stay hands-on while taking ownership of a team and the technical direction of an AI product, this is a strong opportunity to make a genuine impact.
